Raising up the next generation to trust and love Jesus Christ is not an easy prospect. Like many other things, it requires the Lord's grace and work in all of our hearts (parents and children). Paul sets forth the importance for children and parents to do their roles well. Paul reaches back yet again to the earlier parts of the scriptures to help us understand the significance of these roles, just like he does for other seasons of life. As we walk forward in the imperative commands of Ephesians 4-6, let's keep the wise design of the Lord in mind, embrace His design, and walk forward in faith and grace. Listen in and be refreshed in God's good design for children and parents.

Listen in, and consider rejoicing with David and learning from his testimony of the Lord’s faithful deliverance. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.” Psalms 34:19

The Flourishing Gospel-Preaching Design for Marriage | Ephesians 5:21-33
Listen in as we now come to the passage of Ephesians 5:21-33, where Paul articulates the roles for husbands and wives: equal yet different. This design, Paul says, is created by God to proclaim the gospel reality, and in particular the relationship between Christ and the church. Let us marvel at that statement, even as we hear how we are to walk out our roles as husbands and wives. While submission and headship are not necessarily popular in our culture even among some Christians, let us embrace their gospel reality, and also not miss that there are consequences to not embracing them. Let's live in the good of God's wise design.
