42 Days Into My Monetization Challenge: Something Unexpected Happened
I'm 42 days into my 90-day social media monetization challenge, and things are not going quite the way I expected. In some ways, they're going much better.
YouTube is growing faster than I anticipated, TikTok is moving along, and Instagram and Facebook are another story entirely. But somewhere along the way, I realized that getting monetized might not be the most valuable thing to come out of this experiment.
I've sold books, booked some exciting interviews, discovered new opportunities, and finally figured out what I actually want to accomplish with my social media presence.
In this update, I'm sharing the latest numbers, what's working, what's not, and why I'm starting to think this challenge is already a success, even if I don't reach all my original goals.

Ginger Snapped: Hot Flashes and Hot Takes | Introduction
I snapped during lockdown. So I wrote a book.
Of course, I'd been ranting long before COVID came along. As one of the original humor bloggers, I've spent years observing human behavior, questioning conventional wisdom, and finding humor in the absurdities of everyday life.
Ginger Snapped: Hot Flashes and Hot Takes is a collection of personal stories, social commentary, Gen X nostalgia, and reflections on life from a woman who's old enough to remember the world before the internet and opinionated enough to have a few things to say about what came after.
In this introduction, I explain how the book came about and why I decided to revisit it.
I'll be reading the book aloud, one chapter at a time. Some stories will make you laugh, others might make you think, and a few might make you shake your head.

Day 26 of My 90-Day Monetization Challenge: YouTube Took Off
Day 26 of my 90-Day Monetization Challenge, and things are not going quite the way I expected.
When I started this experiment, I decided to spend 90 days consistently creating content and tracking what happened across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and, eventually, this podcast.
One platform has suddenly taken off. Another isn't growing nearly as quickly as I expected. I'm actually losing followers on a couple of them. And somehow, the podcast is making money too.
In this update, I share where everything stands on Day 26, what I'm learning about growing an audience, and why I'm going to keep going even when I have no idea what I'm going to talk about next.
