Season 3: Episode 14 How to support employees with CV writing during redundancy

When someone is at risk of redundancy one of the first questions they often ask is "Can you help me with my CV?"

For HR professionals and managers it can be difficult to know where to start, especially as CV writing isn't likely to be one of your core skills. And yet if organisations don't provide access to outplacement support this is what you'll end up doing.

So I invited Phil Sterne, an Executive Career Coach and experienced CV writer to join me as we share practical advice on how you can help people start working on their CV. We talk about CVs should be written for the job someone wants, not the job they're leaving, how to help people recognise the value they bring, common mistakes that hold candidates back, and the role AI can play in the process.

Useful Links From This Episode

Connect with June on LinkedIn

Visit the Wildwood Coaching website

Connect with Phil on LinkedIn

Visit Phil's website

Find out more about our outplacement services

Sign up to hear about our next FREE 1 hour Redundancy Lunch and Learn

Rate and Review the Podcast

If you found this episode of Redundancy Matters helpful, please rate and review it on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

If you’re kind enough to leave a review, please let June know so she can say thank you. Season 3: Episode 12 Redundancy communication: what HR teams need to know

In this episode I’m joined by HR copywriter Katie Murray to explore the role communication plays in redundancy processes and why the way people experience those conversations matters just as much as the process itself.

Drawing on more than 20 years in HR, Katie shares honest reflections from supporting redundancy programmes, including the moments where communication built trust and the moments where it broke down. We talk about preparing line managers for difficult conversations, avoiding the “tick-box” approach, and why silence and unclear messaging can make an already difficult situation harder for employees.

We also discuss how organisations can communicate with empathy while still managing a legally compliant process, the importance of flexibility during consultation, and how outplacement support can help people feel informed and supported about what comes next.

Useful Links From This Episode

Connect with June on LinkedIn

Visit the Wildwood Coaching website

Connect with Katie on LinkedIn

Visit Katie's website

Sign up to hear about our next FREE 1 hour Redundancy Lunch and Learn

Rate and Review the Podcast

If you found this episode of Redundancy Matters helpful, please rate and review it on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

If you’re kind enough to leave a review, please let June know so she can say thank you.
