The Reformation: Doctrine and Life | Ephesians 2:1–10 | Pastor Brandon Scroggins

The Protestant Reformation was never meant to be merely about recovering sound doctrine. It was about recovering biblical truth that transforms every area of life. In this Reformation Sunday sermon, Pastor Brandon Scroggins opens Ephesians 2:1–10 to examine the sovereign grace of God in salvation and the practical implications of the doctrines recovered during the Protestant Reformation. The Apostle Paul presents three foundational truths: Death (Ephesians 2:1–3): Apart from Christ, we are spiritually dead in our trespasses and sins, unable to save ourselves. Life (Ephesians 2:4–9): But God, being rich in mercy, makes dead sinners alive in Christ. Salvation is entirely by grace through faith, not by works. Fruit (Ephesians 2:10): Those saved by grace are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Pastor Brandon traces these truths through the Five Solas and the doctrines of grace, emphasizing justification by faith alone, regeneration, and the sovereign work of God in salvation. But the sermon does not stop with theology. The Reformation transformed family life, reshaped the church, influenced civil government, and fueled global missions. Those same biblical convictions must shape how Christians live today. Pastor Brandon also warns against two dangers within Reformed Christianity: reducing the faith to theological intellectualism and allowing doctrinal pride to produce unnecessary divisions among believers. Sound doctrine must produce faithful living. The call is not simply to know Reformation theology, but to live under the lordship of Jesus Christ—with humility, conviction, courage, and joy. Will Man Rob God? | Tithing, Giving & the Christian Life | Malachi 3:7–12

Will Man Rob God? | Malachi 3:7–12 | Pastor Brandon Scroggins Does God really require Christians to tithe? Is giving ten percent still a biblical obligation under the New Covenant? And what does the way we handle money reveal about our relationship with God? In Malachi 3:7–12, God confronts His covenant people with a startling accusation: “Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me.” Continuing our verse-by-verse exposition of Malachi, Pastor Brandon Scroggins examines God's command to return to Him, the sin of withholding what belongs to the Lord, and the promises of blessing attached to faithful obedience. This sermon explores the biblical foundations of tithing, the relationship between Old Testament giving and New Testament generosity, and the responsibility of Christians to support the worship and ministry of the local church. Rather than promoting a prosperity gospel or a poverty gospel, Scripture calls believers to faithful stewardship, sacrificial generosity, and joyful obedience. Whether you believe the Old Testament tithe remains binding or understand Christian giving through the principles of grace, the biblical responsibility to give generously, regularly, and cheerfully remains. The ultimate example of generosity is Jesus Christ, who, though He was rich, became poor for our sake (2 Corinthians 8:9). Our money, our possessions, and our very lives belong to God. The question is not simply how much we must give, but whether our hearts truly belong to Him. God of Vengeance, Part 2 | When the Wicked Prosper | Psalm 94

Why does God allow the wicked to prosper? In this sermon on Psalm 94, Pastor Brandon Scroggins explains how God’s justice, sovereign rule, and steadfast love sustain His people when evil seems to go unanswered. “God of Vengeance, Part Two” explores a difficult but comforting truth: God sees every injustice, knows every thought, and will not abandon His people. His vengeance is holy and righteous, and Christians are called to leave personal revenge in His hands while overcoming evil with good. Walking verse by verse through this imprecatory psalm, Pastor Brandon shows how God uses suffering—even the sins others commit against us—to strengthen our faith and make us more like Christ. When our feet slip and our anxieties multiply, His steadfast love holds us up. The sermon concludes at the cross, where God used the greatest injustice in history to accomplish the salvation of His people. The coming judgment calls every hearer to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, our only refuge from the judgment our own sins deserve.
