This collection brings together teachings and stories shared over the years — reflections on the soul of song, the power of love, and the endless invitation to come closer to Hashem through music and heart.
Revisit the melodies, Torah, and spirit of the man who taught us to believe in the holiness of every Jew, and to never stop singing.
10. When No One Else Exists | Parshat Vayera (Reb Shlomo's 30th Yarhzeit)
In honor of the 30th Yahrzeit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach, Rav Shlomo Katz opens a "hidden" transcript from a teaching Reb Shlomo gave in Montreal in 1993
This deep and emotional shiur tackles the concept of the Ilana D'Sfeika (Tree of Doubt) mentioned in the Zohar. We explore why the Torah omits Avraham's name at the moment of revelation ("And God appeared to him"), explaining that in a moment of true intimacy, names and definitions vanish because no one else exists.
Rav Shlomo weaves in the Izhbitzer Rebbe's insights on the difference between "forcing" oneself to do mitzvos versus serving Hashem naturally through the Covenant. We also discuss Rav Kook's "Second Function"—the necessity of having a private relationship with Hashem that the world never sees. This episode is a call to move beyond the doubt of "does what I do matter?" and step into a clarity where our relationship with Hashem illuminates the entire world.

9. The Stories and Torah Behind the Niggunim
In this special yahrzeit gathering, Rav Shlomo Katz opens the gates to Reb Shlomo Carlebach’s world of song — not just the melodies, but the Torah, tears, and miracles behind them.
From the first niggun ever composed to the ones born at the Kotel, in dreams, or by a hospital bedside, each melody carries a story, a soul, and a piece of Am Yisrael’s heart.
Rav Shlomo weaves together Reb Shlomo’s own words about music — “a niggun comes by heavenly Federal Express” — with live renditions and breathtaking tales: a song dreamt in Paris that made the streets dance, another born from the heartbreak of war, another from the depths of yearning in Yerushalayim at 2 a.m.
Every story, every note, every sigh is an invitation to remember what music was always meant to be: a way home.

8. A Conversation with Reb Shlomo’s Daughter — Dari Carlebach
On the 26th yahrzeit of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach zt”l, Rav Shlomo Katz sits down with his daughter Dari Carlebach for a tender and unforgettable conversation.
With warmth, laughter, and tears, Dari shares what it was really like growing up as Reb Shlomo’s daughter — how his stories, his sight, and his endless giving continue to shape her life and the world.
She tells of miracles that still unfold, like the night she was mysteriously guided to help a stranded group of yeshiva boys, an encounter that felt like her father himself was leading her car.
It’s an encounter with the living legacy of Reb Shlomo — his ability to see the light in everyone, to give without end, and to remind us that the greatest miracle is opening the gates for someone else.
Join Rav Shlomo Katz and R’ Eitan Katz as they share some of their favorite Reb Shlomo songs, stories, and Torah's in honor of his 26th Yartzeit.

6. Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and Lashon Hara
In one of Rav Shlomo Katz’s most powerful shiurim yet, he opens the Torah of Reb Shlomo Carlebach to confront one of the hardest spiritual illnesses of our generation: lashon hara that dresses up as holiness.
Through the eyes of Reb Nosson of Breslov, Rav Shlomo exposes the yetzer hara in a shtreimel — how gossip and judgment can masquerade as truth, justice, or “for the sake of Heaven.” Drawing from Reb Shlomo’s own letters, he pleads for a Torah of compassion — one that protects the honor of the living and the dead, and never confuses cruelty for courage.
With deep emotion, Reb Shlomo reminds us that the Beis HaMikdash was not destroyed by heresy, but by people who justified hatred in the name of Torah.
A call to love more fiercely, to protect the dignity of Torah, and to stop mistaking condemnation for holiness.

5. Yirat Hashem: Fearing to Lose the Closeness to God
On the 22nd yahrzeit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach zt”l, Rav Shlomo Katz learns a breathtaking teaching of Rav Kook — through the heart of Reb Shlomo — about what true fear of Heaven really means.
Yirah, says the Baal Shem Tov, isn’t the fear of punishment. It’s the trembling awareness that I could lose the closeness, that I could dim the light between me and Hashem. Rav Shlomo shows how Reb Shlomo and Rav Kook both lived with that kind of awe — not born of guilt or distance, but of love too deep to risk losing.
From the exile of self-doubt to the redemptive Torah of Eretz Yisrael, Rav Shlomo teaches how real Yirat Hashem begins when we stop being afraid of the light and start believing we’re worthy to receive it.

4. God Prays, We Respond | Parshat Vayera
On the yahrzeit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach zt”l, Rav Shlomo Katz shares a breathtaking Torah on Parshat Vayera — a teaching that changes how we understand prayer forever.
Drawing from the Mei HaShiloach and Reb Shlomo’s own words, Rav Shlomo reveals that it’s not we who pray and God who answers. It’s God who prays, and we who respond. Hashem whispers His desires into our hearts, and when we daven, we are answering His tefillah.
Through the story of Sarah Imeinu and the mystery of her impossible prayer, Rav Shlomo teaches that sometimes the longings we feel are not our own — they’re Hashem’s dreams for us. When we quiet our minds and listen deeply, we can become the vessels through which His prayers come to life.

3. Never Anyone Like Him. Never Anyone Like You
On the 22nd yahrzeit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach zt”l, Rav Shlomo Katz leads a night of song, Torah, and reflection from Efrat — weaving stories, teachings, and niggunim that reach straight to the heart.
From “Ha’er Einai” to “Chasdei Hashem Ki Lo Tamnu,” Rav Shlomo explores the mystery of how Reb Shlomo’s love continues to awaken souls around the world. He shares how Reb Shlomo taught us not only that there was never anyone like him, but that there will never be anyone like you. Each soul carries a divine uniqueness, a song that no one else can sing.
Through stories of faith after the Holocaust, Reb Shlomo’s vision of turning hell into paradise, and his final prophecy that the world is ready for the greatest light, Rav Shlomo calls us to live courageously, love fearlessly, and bring Hashem’s presence into every corner of our lives.

2. A Man Who Cleansed His Heart
Rav Shlomo Katz shares a heartfelt yahrzeit teaching on what it truly means to cleanse the heart — through the life and soul of Reb Shlomo Carlebach zt”l.
Through stories, Torah, and niggunim, Rav Shlomo explores the mystery of how Reb Shlomo loved the way he loved, how he lived without judgment, and how he reached the deepest chambers of niggun and prayer by freeing himself from anger.
With reflections on the Etz HaChaim, Rav Kook, Avraham Avinu, and the Vorker Rebbe, this shiur invites us to return to that pre-sin place of pure listening where Hashem whispers into our hearts the prayers He wants us to daven.
A moving journey through song, tears, and joy — celebrating a soul who made himself nothing so he could deliver everything.
