And shortly after that period, organisms on Earth with the ability to eat or break down lignin of these vascular plants until... It didn't arise until 290 million years ago. So these tree corpses are just piled up. So for over 110 million years, trees were growing and depositing and the lignin was accumulating. And so that now we have coal and oil deposits that civilization depends on. So when Severian postulates of trees becoming our very earth, that is a very realistic concept by current theories. Now, I think I like the idea, too, of just like a whole cluster of trees out in the middle of space. […]
