#83 Michal Gondar on Embracing the Chaos: How to Ship, Pivot, and Scale SaaS
Featured Guest: Michal Gondar, Founder & CEO, Appio.so📍Scotland, UK...
In this episode of the Research Labs Podcast, we sit down with Michal Gondar, the founder of Appio, to discuss the messy reality of building and shipping software products. Michal draws on over twenty years of experience to argue that there is no success without chaos and that founders must learn to act even when they lack a perfect plan. He details his philosophy that action produces information, explaining that the only way to solve a business problem is to test the next idea immediately rather than getting stuck in analysis paralysis. We also dive into the practical side of pivoting and scaling, looking at how Michal found a lucrative B2B market by spotting anomalies in his data and why he believes financial safety nets can actually hurt a founder's sense of urgency. The conversation covers the technical story behind Appio, which acts as a missing API for mobile features, and provides an honest look at balancing the robotic efficiency of running a company with the unpredictable joy of raising a child....Links:http://appio.so/https://demo.appio.so/...Credits:Designed by the Research Labs PlatformProduced by SundayPyjamas®Created & Hosted by Prathamesh PatelPodcast Strategy & Production by Nishi PanchalMusic: Ukiyo - Calling (EP)Copyright of SundayPyjamas Inc. 2026

#82 Alison Canning on Reviving Laptops, Reusing Tech, Reconnecting Communities
In this episode, Alison Canning, founder of Let's Get Together, shares the story behind her organization's mission to tackle Canada's digital divide.
Learn how her dedicated team of volunteers takes donated laptops, revives them with open-source software like Ubuntu, and provides them to those in need, along with vital internet access and digital literacy training. The impact is staggering: in just the last seven months, their single hub has kept nearly 70,000 lbs of e-waste out of landfills and provided over 1,000 people with essential digital tools. To date, they have distributed over 4,000 computers, with a goal to solve Canada's digital divide by 2030.
How You Can Help
Every contribution helps build a more connected Canada. You can support their mission by donating funds to help start a new Tech Hub, donating your unwanted technology, or volunteering your time.

#81 Dr. Majid Fekri on Building AI RAG Systems, Vector Databases and Information Theory
Featured Guest: Dr. Majid Fekri, Co-Founder & CTO, Edge AI Innovations
📍Toronto, Canada
...
In this episode, Dr. Majid explores the intersection of edge AI and information theory. He shares his vision of running AI efficiently on small devices while preserving privacy and reducing energy consumption.
Dr. Majid explains how his company developed a unique approach to retrieval augmented generation (RAG) for edge devices by redefining what "relevance" means through information theory. Their solution uses Shannon's theory of information as the foundation to compress vector signals into binary format, making operations extremely fast and efficient while maintaining accuracy.
Dr. Majid also discusses the challenges of deploying AI systems we don't fully understand, the mystery of vector spaces in neural networks, and how their approach provides more mathematical control over AI behavior.
