Episode 9: Chelsea Hutchings | What Christians Need to Understand About Mental Health
In Episode 9 of RESHAPED, Aaron sits down with longtime friend and registered psychologist Chelsea Hutchings for a thoughtful conversation about mental health, psychology, identity and Christian faith. Chelsea shares her personal journey to becoming a Christian, the experiences that shaped her growing up in the church, and what led her to pursue a career in psychology. Having completed her Master of Clinical Psychology, she now works with children and adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma and neurodivergence. A major part of the conversation explores how psychology and Christianity intersect. Can Christians benefit from professional psychological support? What role should prayer, Scripture and Christian community play in mental health? And how can churches become healthier, more compassionate environments for people experiencing emotional and psychological struggles? Aaron and Chelsea also discuss the differences between counselling and psychology, the importance of vulnerability and meaningful relationships, and practical considerations for Christians seeking professional mental health support. Beyond the clinical discussion, they explore deeper questions about identity, grace, self-worth and finding security in God's love. Chelsea reflects on how our understanding of God, ourselves and our place within Christian communities can profoundly shape the way we experience life and relate to others. The conversation also challenges Christians to examine how they view human brokenness, what it means to be made in God's image, and how both biblical truth and psychological understanding can contribute to healthier Christian formation. Episode 8: RESHAPED Review Ft. Tysen Nguyen | Sermon review, Good take or bad take? & Halloween
For Episode 8 we are introducing RESHAPED Review for the first time! The RESHAPED Review episode format will be a recurring episode format from time to time where Aaron sits down with a guest to react to, review and thoughtfully discuss everything from sermons and Christian social media content to cultural conversations and everyday questions of faith. The goal? To have honest, engaging and sometimes lighthearted conversations that encourage us to examine what we believe, think biblically and continue growing to become more like Jesus. For the very first RESHAPED Review, Aaron is joined by his longtime friend Tysen Nguyen. Tysen shares his journey of growing up in the church, developing his own convictions about following Jesus and eventually stepping into youth ministry leadership. From there, Aaron and Tysen dive into three main areas of discussion: 1. Sermon Review — 2 Corinthians 12:1–10 Aaron and Tysen revisit Aaron's recent sermon on Paul's vision of the third heaven, his thorn in the flesh and the powerful reminder that God's strength is made perfect in weakness. They explore the passage, share reflections and discuss what it means for Christians today. 2. Christian Social Media — Good Takes or Bad Takes? Reacting to a humorous Christian Instagram reel, Aaron and Tysen discuss some of the things Christians perhaps shouldn't be doing, including becoming online theologians too quickly, the responsibility of Christian content creators and how we approach giving and generosity. 3. Should Christians Celebrate Halloween? With Halloween approaching, Aaron and Tysen discuss a Christian perspective on the holiday. Is participating in Halloween inherently wrong? What role should personal convictions, conscience and Christian freedom play? And how can Christians approach cultural celebrations thoughtfully rather than simply reacting out of fear? Throughout the episode, there's plenty of laughter, honest reflection and practical discussion about living out the Christian faith. RESHAPED Review is a format we'll aim to bring back regularly, featuring different guests where the heart behind it remains the same: Christian formation through thoughtful examination and conversation RESHAPED Podcast Theme Music by Ryan Young

Episode 7: Adam Harris | From Addiction to Finding Jesus
In Episode 7 of RESHAPED, Aaron sits down with Adam Harris for an honest and deeply personal conversation about success, addiction, sobriety, finding Jesus and learning what it truly means to surrender control to God. Adam shares his journey from becoming a successful real estate agent, achieving financial success and building a life around his own accomplishments, to experiencing the destructive consequences of alcoholism, addiction and an increasingly self-centred way of living. After reaching rock bottom in 2022, Adam began his journey towards sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous. What started as an attempt to rebuild his life eventually became something much deeper, a journey of rediscovering God and developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Adam shares how his recovery community, Christian radio, Scripture and the encouragement of others gradually opened his heart to Christ, eventually leading to his baptism in January 2025. But his story doesn't end there. Aaron and Adam explore the ongoing process of Christian formation, including the importance of prayer, humility, honesty and learning to trust God in every area of life. They also discuss how Christians can better support people struggling with addiction, why genuine relationships and compassion matter, and how Adam now navigates his acting career through the lens of his Christian convictions. Throughout the conversation, one theme continually emerges: learning to let go of control and trust God, even when life doesn't unfold the way we expect. Episode 6: Tim Butler | God Just Wanted His Kid to Come Home
In Episode 6 of RESHAPED, Aaron sits down with Tim Butler for an honest conversation about faith, failure, grace and the long process of becoming more like Jesus. Tim shares about his upbringing in Tasmania, moving to Melbourne, and a difficult season marked by alcohol, depression and feeling lost. In the middle of that season, an encounter with Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son radically changed the way Tim understood God. That realisation became a turning point in his life and eventually led to faith, baptism and a new direction. But Tim’s story didn’t suddenly become easy. He opens up about a seven-year struggle with sin, walking away from his faith, and eventually experiencing what he describes as God continuing to pursue him and draw him back. Aaron and Tim also explore what happened after coming home: the ongoing process of sanctification, learning to trust God, the importance of church community and fellowship, and how Christians can hold together both grace and discipline. They discuss the value of humility and honest conversations, the role of small groups and family, and what it means to trust God not only with our spiritual lives, but with our work, finances and future. Episode 5: Noah Mata P.2 | Demons, Denominations & Comedy
In Part 2, Aaron and Noah move into some fascinating and challenging areas of Christian faith, life and formation, from the unseen spiritual realm to what it looks like to follow Jesus across denominational boundaries. They discuss the spiritual realm, demonic strongholds and how Christians should think about spiritual warfare today. Noah also shares some of his own experiences that have shaped the way he approaches the unseen aspects of the Christian faith. The conversation then turns to Noah’s work with Bread for the World, a Christian advocacy organisation working to address hunger through advocacy and engagement with churches and communities. Aaron and Noah also explore Christianity across different denominations and traditions, what they have learned from Christians outside their own church background, and the importance of recognising the wider body of Christ. From there, they dive into evangelism, salvation and baptism exploring what it means to invite people into relationship with Jesus without reducing conversion to a formula or allowing the pressure to save someone to rest entirely on us. They also talk about one of Noah’s more unexpected pursuits: stand-up comedy. Noah shares his journey into comedy, the relationship between faith and humour, and the challenge of remaining authentic to both his Christian convictions and who he genuinely is on and off the stage. Finally, Noah reflects on where God is continuing to reshape him: learning to honour the past with gratitude rather than regret, remaining open to what God has for him in the future, and allowing Jesus to remain the constant through every changing season of life.
