Respair Production & Media is a movement journalism and media organization reshaping culture toward liberation. Rooted in Chicago, we build media projects about, in partnership with, and in support of communities challenging power, reconfiguring public life, and reimagining our world. From producing award-winning podcasts and films to supporting and advising collaborators across our ecosystem, we're building new media infrastructure for collective justice and liberation.
Respair contributes programming, production, publishing, development, and personal tools to emergent media makers, while encouraging the autonomy necessary to independently build transformative media. A resilient, sustainable media ecosystem is both a necessary tool for liberation and a difficult structure to build. Respair makes it possible for movement mediamakers across the country to have access to the resources and support they need to create without compromise.

Respair Presents: Quantum Entanglements
Quantum Entanglements is a new multimedia investigative feature from Respair about South Side Chicago communities fighting for self-determination in response to potentially being poisoned, pushed out, and policed by an impending 9-billion dollar quantum computer on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Over the four decades since the US Steel South Works steel mill shut its doors, the land it sat on has remained undeveloped as the surrounding communities heal from the physical, environmental, economic, and social wounds left behind by this industrial behemoth.
Now, a coalition of public and private power players from all levels of government and different sectors of industry is preparing to break ground on a "Quantum Campus"–a multi-billion dollar sprawling facility of next-generation technology and surveillance that could both release poisonous contamination and dismantle digital privacy around the globe.
As the next industrial revolution descends on a community still reeling from the destruction of deindustrialization, we talk with organizers and neighbors living alongside the site about how they're building power, demanding answers, making sense of the area’s history, and fighting for the ability to determine the future of their neighborhoods, livelihoods, and relationships to the land on which they live.

GUARANTEED Episode 1 - Guaranteed Income 101
On the first episode of GUARANTEED, we start at the beginning–what does guaranteed income mean, what does it not mean, and how does it make freedom and dignified life more possible? Our host Eve learns from three of the world's foremost experts on guaranteed income: economist Damon Jones breaks down the socioeconomic impacts of guaranteed income, philosopher Juliana Bidadanure explains how guaranteeing cash can guarantee greater personal and collective freedom, and former mayor Michael Tubbs shares his experience administering one of the nation's most successful guaranteed income pilots in his hometown of Stockton, CA. Plus, learn a bit more about the Chicagoans we'll be talking to on the rest of the series.
GUARANTEED is presented by Respair Production & Media and Eve L. Ewing, with support from the Economic Security Project.
