A show for everyone who wishes they had an on-demand brunch crew. Wide-ranging conversations, often prompted by movies or media.
We recommend starting with our three-minute "Episode Zero" to get the gist (https://open.spotify.com/episode/2gsnLbkFv9dDc), then go with the most recent episode or whatever looks interesting. There should be very little lore or continuity to keep up with if you jump around.

Adam, Liz, and Maggie review the modern classic that some have called "a season of Glee without backing tracks," -- an episode in which, fully unplanned, each host stakes their claim on a different member of the central B-plot love triangle.
We ask the hard questions, like "Where, physically, are the Elizabeth Banks & John Michael Higgins commentators sitting during competitions?" and "Should we consider Stacie, the slut archetype character, good representation?" We are also, we're sure, the very first people in history to ask, "Is Ben Platt good?" All these answers and more, within!

Men in Black (1997)
Real ones know this one was coming. Episode 9, Men in Black! See what happens when Adam, Liz, and Maggie cover a movie not because any of them picked it for the show, but because Adam made a random joke about it eight months prior and we commit to the bit.
Peek inside to see (well, hear) the gang debate whether anything in this movie should be seen as an allegory, or whether it, more than any film on the show so far, is just meant to be watched with a big tub of popcorn while alien goo, 90s catchphrases, and early-career Vincent D'Onofrio fill 90 minutes of a lazy afternoon.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Welcome to the most talked-about episode yet of Resting Brunch Face! And by that we mean talked-about by us, the hosts, in the time since we recorded it, because of how much one of us disliked the movie. Which host was it? Guess before you hit play!
This time, beyond navigating the largest range of opinion on the show thus far, Adam, Liz, and Maggie grapple with this somehow-G-rated movie about racism, ableism, and the burning of Paris. It sure has great animation and some banger songs, though! Featuring the podcast’s first Bob’s Burgers callout, a brief pitch for a Disney-animated Les Misérables, and a speculative segment on the remainder of Claude Frollo’s “Book of Zealot’s ABCs,” since he and Quasi only recite through "E" (or maybe "F") in the film.
Content warnings: The movie itself uses some vocabulary that is inappropriate for polite conversation in the 2020s, but the episode does not. (Well, we don’t use those particular words. Your mileage may vary as to whether the rest of our usual vernacular is appropriate for polite company.) This is addressed in more detail at the start of the episode itself.

The Fall (2006)
Adam, Liz, and Maggie wax poetic about a little-known masterpiece of a film, giving our most enthusiastic recommendation yet. The episode should be coherent if you haven't seen The Fall, but you'll want to make plans to see it when you're done!
In between giving this movie its proper reverence, we continue to ask the hard-hitting questions like whether the "fall" in the title is literal, metaphorical, or both. And keep your ears open for the latest installment (neither the first nor the last) of "Maggie says she has no answer to a deep question but then gives a deep answer anyway after thinking for a couple minutes."

(Bonus) Episode 3/4/5 Mailbag
Adam, Liz, and Maggie turn the mailbag upside down and see what comes out from the last few months, including some feedback that is *not* from our parents or even from Aunt Mary. Marvel at our expanded audience!
Bonus (bonus within a bonus!) additional revisiting of older episodes like Little Mermaid and Heated Rivalry. Of course we can't leave Heated Rivalry alone, you know that. And before we wrap, a few words on the show Yellowjackets -- maybe a future episode? -- because we have it on the mind.
Enjoy this mini episode to round off the month of June. Another full episode is due next month! Please like, follow, comment, and review the show, and share with your friends! Email us at show@restingbrunchface.net with any thoughts or inquiries.

The Edge of Seventeen (2016)
We're back for Pride Month with yet another completely unrelated-to-the-holiday episode. (Only straight relationships in this movie, folks. Maybe queerer next time.)
The Edge of Seventeen is an underappreciated teen coming-of-age film from the 2010s, with a compelling central character, great writing, and great acting. This was one of Maggie's picks: neither Adam nor Liz had seen it before. Guess which one predicted the movie perfectly, and which one got it completely wrong!
Even if you, like Adam and Liz, haven't seen the movie before, we promise we cover enough of the details to follow along. This one contains some hot takes on teenage depression and identity, reasonable and unreasonable reactions to a crush leading you on, and Liz's Grand Theory of Coming of Age Stories.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008)
May the 4th (this episode’s release date) be with you! In theme with Resting Brunch Face’s historical holiday observance patterns, here on Star Wars day we bring you, definitely not a Star Wars episode.
On a podcast where we regularly revisit old favorites, Dr. Horrible offers us our greatest challenge yet. Does it hold up? Was the script ever self-aware of its own antihero? Is it an allegory for extremist politics? Do we remember all of the lyrics either way? Only one way to find out: put in those 'buds and listen.
Eagle-eared fans (rabbit-eared?) will catch such highlights as Adam mispronouncing "Felicia Day" and never correcting himself, a deep-cut reference to the Sondheim musical Merrily We Roll Along, and Resting Brunch Face's first *post-credits* scene. Enjoy, and let us know what you think! Email us at show@restingbrunchface.net with any thoughts or inquiries.

(Bonus) Liz's Last Unicorn Synopsis
In this (very) short bonus episode, hear Liz's 3-minute primer on the plot and themes of The Last Unicorn, recorded shortly before we all watched the movie for the episode.
This episode is strictly optional, but is recommended if your reaction to the full episode is "I don't know that movie, so I won't be able to follow along."

The Last Unicorn (1982)
We complete our tour of formative childhood movies for the crew by visiting Liz's all-timer, The Last Unicorn, a lesser-known but terribly interesting animated film released in 1982. (To pre-empt one question we've already received: this is not to be confused with the film "Death of a Unicorn" from 2025...very different movie! In this one, the unicorn doesn't die, and that's kind of the whole point. Themes of immortality, and so on.)
Listen in, and we guarantee the nimblest of possible transitions between contemplating the pain and depths of mortal existence and discussing whether a certain flesh-colored living tree is meant to be trapping a man between a pair of breasts or a pair of balls.
This is the least-known film we've covered on the show to date, but we're glad to embrace variety. We do cover key details to help you follow along, and we hope it's still a good hang.

(Bonus) March Mailbag + Twilight: New Moon
It's just like they always say: March comes in like a vampire and out like a werewolf.
We were just bursting with extra content, needing to cover reactions and comments to two episodes (Jurassic Park and Heated Rivalry), plus, hey, we watched New Moon and we have some thoughts. So, here's our second bonus episode!
Come for the stories behind our first PG-13 and R-rated movies, stay for the chill hangout vibes, the Canonical List of Timelessly Attractive and Non-Problematic Men, and Kirkland Signature Bulk Jorts. If you listen carefully, you'll also catch a hint of a "vampires suck" joke from Adam completely flop, to no reaction whatsoever from the other hosts, as if it never happened.

Twilight (2008)
In their most ✨sparkling✨ episode yet, Adam, Liz, and Maggie visit Forks, Washington, where a sullen vampire and his mortal paramour stare at each other a lot while having excellent hair.
Listen in for our takes on Team Edward vs. Team Jacob, a read of Twilight through "I can fix him" discourse, shots fired at Tuck Everlasting fans in the cold open, and whether a grown man seeing Twilight for the first time can appreciate all the teenage yearning. And also Bella's hair, did we mention the hair?

(Bonus) Heated Rivalry
In honor of the Winter Olympics *and* Valentine's Day 2026, join the crew for a very special episode, about a certain HBO Max hockey show that is rather more about true love than it is about hockey.
If you have not heard of this show before...then we are SO glad to be the ones to tell you about it. The panel is laser-focused on one question: "Why is Heated Rivalry so good?" Tune in for many answers, all of which are guaranteed 100% correct.
Please like, follow, comment, and review the show, and share with your friends! Tell us why YOU think Heated Rivalry is so good! Email us at show@restingbrunchface.net with any thoughts or inquiries.

Jurassic Park (1993)
Adam, Liz, and Maggie discuss the classic Steven Spielberg film about an overfunded theme park venture that faces operational collapse due to poor IT staffing choices. Oh, and dinosaurs!
Featuring meditations on the film's most quotable lines, relitigation of how attractive 90s-era Jeff Golblum is, and Maggie's audition to voice the velociraptor in the next sequel. We've also edited in our first "mailbag" segment, bringing in reactions to the podcast as a whole and to last month's Episode 1.

The Little Mermaid (1989)
Adam, Liz, and Maggie kick off the show with a rewatch of a very formative film for many: Disney's The Little Mermaid (1989).
Learn why Ursula truly is the best Disney villain, get our canonical read on the backstory in King Triton's court, and hear why we would or would not want to be stuck on a submersible trip with Ariel.
