The Restoration Church podcast features weekly messages that help us follow Jesus, grow in faith, and build better lives. Listen in as we explore Scripture, apply truth, and pursue the purpose God has for us together.
This week we wrap up our Overcoming Fear series by looking at the fear of death, which is often the fear sitting underneath so many of our other fears. Starting in Hebrews 2:14-15, we see that Jesus came to set free those who have lived in slavery to it. We walk through John 11 and the story of Lazarus, where Jesus arrived later than Mary and Martha hoped, yet stood with them in their grief and wept. Through John 11:25, Romans 8:18, and Revelation 1:17-18, we hold on to the hope that Jesus is the resurrection and the life and holds the keys of death. We also hear a personal story about the loss of a beloved mentor, and what it meant to build faith on Jesus rather than on getting the outcome we prayed for. Drawing on 1 John 4 and 1 Corinthians 15, we see that perfect love casts out fear and that death has been swallowed up in victory. Fear does not get the final word, and neither does death. Jesus does.

Overcoming Fear – Week 3 – Fear of Man’s Opinion
This week in our Overcoming Fear series, we look at the fear of man’s opinion. Starting in 1 Samuel 15, we unpack how King Saul knew exactly what God had commanded, yet admitted he feared the people and obeyed their voice instead. We look at the Challenger disaster as a sobering picture of what happens when outside pressure grows louder than the convictions we know are true. Through Galatians 1:10, Proverbs 29:25, 1 Corinthians 4:3-4, and John 12:42-43, we see how people-pleasing can leave us performing, compromising, and hiding a faith we believe privately but are afraid to live publicly. The approval we live for becomes the authority we live under. Faith responds by obeying God even when people disapprove, and it rests in the truth that we are already known, chosen, and accepted through the blood of Jesus. We live from acceptance, not for acceptance.

Overcoming Fear – Week 2 – The Fear of Failure
This week in our Overcoming Fear series, we look at the fear of failure. Starting in Matthew 25:24-25, we unpack the servant who buried his talent in the ground because fear convinced him it was safer to hide what God had given him. We explore how our view of God shapes how we respond, why God is looking for faithfulness rather than perfection, and how the enemy wants to turn failure into identity. Along the way we hear personal stories, from a book that was deleted out of fear years ago to the sports legends who became great because they kept swinging and shooting. We also look at the life of Peter, who denied Jesus three times yet was restored beside another charcoal fire in John 21 and went on to preach at Pentecost. The difference between conviction and condemnation is made plain through Romans 8:1. Failure is an event, not an identity. Dig up what fear caused you to bury.
