   Would you spend $700 on a toaster? Pay someone to stand in line for you? Or hire a complete stranger to handle the everyday tasks you absolutely cannot stand? This week on Resurface, Rachel and Stephen are trying something a little different! After catching up on some personal and family updates, we're exploring the surprisingly strange things people are willing to spend their money on. First, we're playing Guess the Price, where we try to figure out how much some truly ridiculous products actually cost. Then we're discovering bizarre services people can hire, and deciding whether we'd ever consider paying for them ourselves. Finally, we're turning the conversation toward our own lives. From household chores and never-ending phone calls to technology problems and everyday conveniences, we're asking what we'd genuinely pay someone else to handle if we could. Along the way, there's plenty of questionable reasoning, unexpected discoveries, disagreements, and the usual husband-and-wife banter. We want to hear from you!    We Invited ChatGPT to Co-Host Our Podcast

   We invited ChatGPT to co-host our podcast and gave it one job: try to start an argument between us. It roasted both of us, called out our ridiculous excuses, and somehow ended up playing couples therapist. We're Rachel and Stephen Scroggins, the married hosts of Resurface Podcast, and for Episode 44, we decided to let artificial intelligence join the conversation. Armed with everything ChatGPT already knows about us (which is probably far too much), we challenged it to find something we could actually disagree about. It didn't hold back. From who's really late when we're leaving the house, to stealing each other's food, to Rachel's habit of interrupting Stephen's stories, ChatGPT had plenty to say. It delivered some surprisingly good insults, assigned winners, and occasionally made us question why we'd invited it in the first place. But the most interesting part wasn't something we planned. Without us telling ChatGPT which disagreement to pursue, it brought up a household issue that we genuinely don't see eye to eye on. What started as another round of roasting eventually turned into an impromptu session of AI couples therapy. And, much to our surprise, some of its advice wasn't half bad. So, can ChatGPT actually cause an argument between a husband and wife? Is AI any good at understanding marriage? And should we ever let it co-host another episode? You'll have to tell us.    Special Needs Parents React to Toy Story 5 | Episode 43

   Toy Story 5 takes on kids' screen time, technology, and imaginative play. But what happens when a screen isn't just entertainment, but something a child with disabilities genuinely needs? In Episode 43 of Resurface Podcast, Rachel and Stephen react to Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5 and its surprisingly complicated message about children, tablets, friendship, and growing up. As parents of three children, including a five-year-old daughter with significant disabilities, we have a different perspective on the screen-time debate. We talk about the struggle to balance imaginative play with technology, the changes we've noticed in our own children when screens are limited, and the reality of relying on devices more than we'd like. For our daughter Mila, screen time has sometimes been a necessity during overwhelming seasons of caregiving. We've also watched technology help her learn, develop skills, and participate in activities that might otherwise be inaccessible. That brings us to a side of the screen-time conversation that often gets overlooked: disability, accessibility, and inclusion. What does it mean when a tablet makes it possible for a child to sit through a doctor's appointment, visit a restaurant, or participate in the community? And what happens when the world expects children with invisible disabilities to adapt to environments that aren't designed for them? We don't have all the answers. We're trying to find a better balance ourselves.
