[…] And as you turn to the New Testament, what do you see? Well, especially in the book of Acts and in Galatians, you find out that this division between the Jews and Gentiles was a significant problem for the early church because Jewish believers in Christ thought it would be impossible for a Gentile to get saved without first converting to Judaism by keeping the laws of Moses and becoming circumcised. So the church was plagued by constant battles about the keeping of the ceremonial laws of the Jewish faith, about what things could be eaten for food, what day they should worship on. And so what Paul is teaching us now in Ephesians is about the creation of the church of Jesus Christ, a place where there should not be these barriers, this hatred that we see today. […]
