Fear, Triggers & Survival Responses: Why Do I Keep Reacting This Way? | S2 E2

Why do I keep reacting this way—even when I know better? Maybe you overthink everything. You people-please. You shut down during conflict. You become defensive when you feel criticized. You procrastinate, try to control everything, fear rejection, or sabotage the very things you prayed for. What if the behaviour isn’t actually the root? In Season 2, Episode 2 of Rewired for Purpose, Rosangela explores fear, emotional triggers, nervous system responses, and the beliefs beneath our reactions through the lens of Scripture and neuroscience. Fear doesn’t always look like panic. Sometimes it looks like perfectionism, people-pleasing, control, procrastination, avoidance, anger, hyper-independence, overthinking, or shutting down. You’ll learn how past experiences can influence the way your brain and nervous system interpret present situations, why fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses can become automatic protective patterns, and how deeply held beliefs can keep those patterns alive. We’ll also explore the connection between fear and strongholds, why feelings can be real without always accurately representing what is happening, and how to create space between a trigger and your response. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to begin moving from fear to truth, from automatic reactions to intentional responses, and from self-protection to trust through nervous system regulation, biblical mind renewal, and your identity in Christ. 📖 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Fear may explain how you learned to protect yourself, but fear does not have to continue leading your life. Stay until the end for a powerful time of reflection and prayer as we invite the Holy Spirit to reveal what is underneath our reactions and begin replacing fear with truth. 🎙️ Rewired for Purpose with Rosangela Atte Where Scripture, neuroscience, healing, and identity come together to help women renew their minds, heal at the root, and walk boldly in their God-given purpose. Breaking Free From Shame: Healing Your Spirit, Soul and Body

Are shame, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-sabotage, or fear of being seen keeping you hidden? In this podcast episode, Rosangela Atte explains how shame affects your spirit, soul, mind, nervous system, body, and relationship with God—and how Jesus restores the identity shame tried to steal.Welcome to Season 2 of the Rewired for Purpose Podcast. This season, we are going deeper beneath the behaviours, emotions, thought patterns, fears, wounds and protective responses that keep us stuck. We will explore what is happening in our spirit, soul, mind, nervous system and body—and how biblical truth, neuroscience and the healing presence of God can help us become whole. In this first episode, we are talking about shame. Shame is one of the quietest prisons. It often hides beneath perfectionism, people-pleasing, overworking, defensiveness, isolation, self-sabotage, fear of being seen and the constant feeling that we are never enough. Guilt says, “I made a mistake.” Shame says, “I am the mistake.” In this episode, we explore where shame first entered the human story in Genesis, how it caused Adam and Eve to cover themselves and hide from God, and how it disrupted the intimacy they once shared with Him. We also look at the woman with the issue of blood. After twelve years of suffering, disappointment and social vulnerability, she approached Jesus from behind, trembling and afraid. But Jesus did not call her by her condition. He called her: “Daughter.” With one word, Jesus restored her identity, dignity, belonging and peace. You will learn: The difference between guilt, conviction, condemnation and shame How shame affects the spirit, soul, mind, nervous system and body Why rejection and humiliation can feel physically painful How shame fuels perfectionism, people-pleasing, overthinking, hiding and self-sabotage Why shame can distort the way we see God Practical steps to recognize and interrupt the shame cycle How to take responsibility without rejecting yourself How Jesus restores the identity shame tried to steal Shame may call you by what happened to you, what you did or what you have struggled with. But Jesus calls you by your true identity. You are not your worst moment. You are not what others did to you. You are not disqualified from receiving love, mercy and restoration. It is time to come out of hiding—not for humiliation, but for healing. Scriptures discussed: Genesis 2–3, Mark 5:25–34, Romans 8:1, Romans 12:2, Hebrews 4:16, Hebrews 12:2, Isaiah 61:7 and John 8:36. How to Get Ready for the Outpouring: The Honey Is Flowing

In this episode, we talk about how to get ready for the outpouring of God and prepare for the promises, provision, restoration, and influence He is releasing in this season. As the honey is flowing—thick, rich, heavy, and golden—the Lord Is calling His people to begin nesting. Just as a mother prepares her home before the birth of a baby, we must prepare our hearts, minds, homes, relationships, and nervous systems for what God is about to bring forth. We look at Job 42 and how Job’s restoration came only after forgiveness, reconciliation, and intercession. We also talk about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, and how unity, obedience, and waiting on the Lord prepared the disciples for the promise of the Father. This episode also weaves in faith, neuroscience, mind renewal, and nervous system regulation, so you can learn how to stay in hope, renew your thought patterns, and prepare to steward the blessing and assignment God is releasing. If you have been in a season of waiting, wilderness, or preparation, this message will encourage you to make room, stretch your tent pegs, and get your vessels ready. The honey is flowing, and the question is: are you ready for the outpouring? If this episode encouraged you, make sure to follow the podcast on Spotify, share it with a friend, and leave a rating so more people can find this message.
