Pausing With Purpose: Seasons, Checkpoints, and Coming Back
Sarah and Meredith are back on Rewriting the Narrative, and they start with the honest answer to where they’ve been: life got full, and they did what they ask their clients to do. They looked at their time, chose what the season needed most, and put a return date on the calendar two months ago. This is that date.
From there they dig into what it looks like to give yourself space without letting yourself off the hook. They talk about why “ticking the box” is sometimes the win you need, why moving a deadline keeps a goal alive, and why a season usually lasts much longer than the week you planned for.
They also get into health advocacy: why waiting until it’s bad enough costs more than acting early, and Sarah’s recent conversations with women whose long-standing gut issues, endometriosis, celiac, or Crohn’s were never fully explained until they were trying to conceive, and when sometimes running the test is cheaper than three more months of guessing with supplements.
They wrap with lighter updates on recent birding expeditions , overhyped running shoes and some of what they’ve been creating for the Mentorship (https://www.fortify-health.com/mentorship) course.
In this episode:
Why they paused the show and how a planned return date kept it from feeling abandoned
Moving a deadline or maintaining what matters as a legitimate win
Recognizing when your old goals don’t fit the person you’ve become
Using calendar checkpoints to assess a change
Recognizing when waiting has become avoidance
Why taking care of yourself will almost always be inconvenient
Advocating for your health with the right providers

Coming Off Birth Control After 40: What to Expect, What to Prepare, and How to Support Your Body
In this episode, Meredith and Sarah discuss the nuances of transitioning off hormonal birth control in women in their 40s and beyond. It’s key to ensure a thorough evaluation of your current systemic health situation and goals before coming off the pill at any age. As women approach later years of perimenopause, there’s more considerations to support health for the long term.
Today’s episode includes the conversations we want to have with any female looking to take this step, and was inspired by a question from a coach in our Group Mentorship program. If you have a question about your unique health situation, you can ask here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfMCpNJxPRnXVFyH3IJKJtvaCFZFhb4s-9D0cf8HiqfD8yyaw/viewform?usp=send_form) and we will cover it in a future blog or episode.

What We Ask Before We Answer: A Hormonal Health Case Study
A client was told to "be careful with estrogen." No follow-up question. No real explanation. Just a warning she's carried for years. When a coach brought this case to Sarah and Meredith, they didn't hand back an answer. They handed back more questions: the details of her original diagnosis, what's still being monitored, the full picture behind her hysterectomy. Not to second-guess her doctors, but because a coach can't responsibly weigh in on hormonal health, inflammation, or eye health without first understanding what's actually going on.
This episode is about that instinct: the pause before the answer, the question behind the question, and why "the body isn't a game of checkers." Sarah and Meredith talk through how they coach other coaches to slow down, dig into a client's full history before jumping to solutions, and ask the kind of questions that lead to personalized care instead of generic advice.
The bad questions are the ones you didn't ask. This episode will leave you ready to trust your intuition, ask more questions, and make decisions that actually meet the needs of your body, or your client's.
