The Booth In The Back | Roadside Notes — A Faith and Good Courage Journal Reading | Ep61

In this week’s Roadside Notes, Christopher Tuttle, the Route 66 Chaplain, reflects on the booth in the back of every Route 66 diner and the quiet people who sit there. A woman outside of Williams with a cold cup of coffee and an open notebook shows him what it means to be among people without having to perform being okay for any of them. A gentle reflection on the kindness of simply noticing.

The Long Way Home | Roadside Notes — A Faith and Good Courage Journal Reading | Ep60

In this week’s Roadside Notes, Christopher Tuttle, the Route 66 Chaplain, meets a man who knew exactly where he was going and took the long way anyway. Three days. One loss. And a coffee pot that stayed on long enough for him to remember who he was before he had to go be who everyone needed him to be. This one is for anyone who has ever needed a few more miles before they could walk through the door.

The Tip Nobody Left | Roadside Notes — A Faith and Good Courage Journal Reading | Ep59

In this week’s Roadside Notes, Christopher Tuttle, the Route 66 Chaplain, watches a table of four walk out of a diner without a word to the waitress who took care of them for an hour. What follows is a quiet reflection on the tip that never shows up in the cash out at the end of the night but stays with a person longer than any amount of money does. Thirty seconds. Eye contact. Said like you mean it.
