Episode 24 - The Art of Wildlife Photography with Rob Canis - Roaming Free Podcast
In this episode of Roaming Free, Ian and Steve sit down with award-winning wildlife photographer Rob Canis to explore the stories behind his remarkable images and his unique approach to photography.
Living in Sittingbourne, Kent, Rob spends much of his time capturing the wildlife and landscapes of the nearby Isle of Sheppey, where patience, fieldcraft and an intimate understanding of nature come together to create stunning photographs. Rather than chasing perfect conditions or relying on luck, Rob explains how careful planning, observation and respect for wildlife are at the heart of everything he does.
The conversation covers Rob's award-winning career, how he developed his distinctive photographic style, the challenges of photographing wildlife without disturbing it, and why the natural world on our doorstep can be just as inspiring as the most remote locations on Earth.
Whether you're a photographer, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys hearing the stories behind incredible images, this is an episode packed with inspiration, practical advice and a real appreciation for the outdoors.
Join Ian, Steve and Rob as they discover that sometimes the best adventures are waiting just around the corner.

Episode 23 - Tales from the Slate Trail with Steve and Ian - Roaming Free Podcast
Join Steve and Ian as they lace up their boots and head out onto the stunning Slate Trail in North Wales for another episode of Roaming Free.
As always, the walk is only half the story. Between tackling relentless climbs, admiring incredible scenery and discussing the gear they're carrying, the conversation wanders just as much as the trail itself. Expect Steve's questionable Welsh lessons, Ian's now-infamous "Hendo's Foot Smeg" stories (you've been warned!), plenty of chat about food, and all the random conversations that only seem to happen when you're miles from civilisation with nothing but a rucksack and too much time to think.
From trail snacks to steep ascents, blisters to breathtaking views, this episode is exactly what you'd expect from a day out with Steve and Ian—equal parts outdoor adventure, useful trail chat, complete nonsense, and plenty of laughs.
So grab a brew, pull on your boots, and come and join us on the Slate Trail... where the miles are hard, the hills are steeper, and the conversation is, as always, gloriously off the rails.
