Apologies, folks — this one was meant to land just before Christmas, but with the festive madness and schedules colliding we’re a few days behind… better late than never!
This week we’re back with a bang, diving into some big talking points shaping the sport — past, present and future.
We kick off with the discussion around indoor tennis in Florida — why is it so rare, could it change development pathways, and what would it mean for training and tournament scheduling in a state dominated by outdoor play?
We also explore whether tennis is missing a trick by not embracing more combined men’s and women’s tournaments.
Is the sport stronger when the tours come together — or does the current separation actually serve both sides better?
We look at the logistics, the commercial appeal, and whether fans really want to see the stars all in one place more often.
Then we step into one of the most complex and sensitive debates in modern sport:
👉 Should transgender women — born male — compete on the women’s tour?
We unpack the arguments, the science, the ethics, the emotional response, and what fairness means in a sport built on precision, power and small margins.
Finally, we react to the bombshell news that Carlos Alcaraz and coach Juan Carlos Ferrero have parted ways.
How could this reshape Alcaraz’s future?
Was the timing surprising?
And who could or should guide the most talented young player of this generation into his prime?

Tennis Immortality: Federer, Roger Taylor & the Cost of Greatness
This week on Rock n Roll Tennis, Keith and John dive into the state of modern tennis, mixing sharp opinion with deep respect for the game’s legends.
We kick off by debating the late start of the Next Gen Finals — asking whether tennis is losing touch with players, fans, and broadcast common sense in the pursuit of entertainment.
The conversation then turns to Roger Taylor, revisiting his remarkable contribution to British tennis and why his legacy deserves far greater recognition in the modern era.
We also tackle other aspects in the sport:
👉 Why so many players retired early
👉 The physical and mental toll of the modern tour
👉 Whether tennis is demanding too much, too soon, from its stars
Finally, we reflect on the Hall of Fame election of Roger Federer, discussing what truly defines greatness, longevity, and immortality in tennis — and why Federer’s legacy may never be matched.
Insightful, opinionated, and unapologetically honest — this is Rock n Roll Tennis doing what it does best.
