A solo-podcast to help mothers feel seen. Remind her that she is already doing an incredible job by shining a light on the countless everyday moments she creates with her child. How those moments are already supporting learning, confidence, connection, and growth. Her awareness of how her child learns and small everyday shifts to help support her child.
Fair and equal. Two words we each understand differently.
Fair doesn't mean everyone gets the same thing. It means everyone gets what they need. In this episode, we're shining a light on those everyday moments you do, often without even realizing it.
I'm also inviting you to explore Math, Explained, a growing library designed to help you recognize and support the foundational math skills your child needs.
When the time is right for you and your family, come check it out.

Ep 14: You never outgrow being Mom
Our kids are growing up, so are we.
You get to take the pieces of your childhood you loved, remove the pieces you may not have liked, and add a few of your own. You get to be the mom you want to be.
One day, your child will build on everything you've taught them. Enjoy noticing all the pieces you have built.

Ep 13: Teaching vs Telling
You've been figuring out what your child needs since before they could talk. You taught them instead of telling them what to do. You've been listening, asking questions, and helping them make sense of the world.
In this week's episode of Rooted and Growing, we're talking about the difference between teaching and telling, and how much learning you're already supporting every day.
When you want to find a resource that explains the strategies behind how math is taught and the new main math concepts taught in your child's grade, become a member of Math, Explained.

Ep 12: Don't Touch me. Don't talk to me.
Feeling overstimulated is real. It's your body's way of telling you it's had too much.
In this episode, we talk about recognizing when you're overstimulated, finding ways to ground yourself, and noticing what actually works for you.
We also explore how reducing your mental load and making fewer decisions throughout the day can help. That's where Creating Calm Rhythms comes in! It helps you build predictable anchor points into your family's day, so you have less to think about and more room to breathe.

Ep 11: When your Child Asks for help with Math
Your child says, "Mom, can you help me with my math?"
They asked for help. They didn't necessarily ask you to solve it for them.
I know how hard that can be when you're looking at a strategy you've never seen before—or they give you an answer that makes absolutely no sense.
Before jumping in, try:
"Show me what you're thinking."
Then listen.
You may hear that they understand the new concept and are getting stuck on a basic addition, subtraction, multiplication or division fact.
You may discover exactly where the new concept stopped making sense.
You may realize neither of you knows what to do next.
All of those give you somewhere to go.
You don't have to know every strategy to help your child become a mathematical thinker.

Ep 10: A Space Where Thinking Begins
Boredom is not a bad thing. Being bored often creates space for curiosity to open the door. Boredom doesn't make you more creative, but it does give your mind space to think. In this episode of Rooted and Growing, we explore how boredom, small moments of discomfort, and open space give children opportunities to make decisions, think critically, and discover their capabilities.
You'll walk away with a simple shift you can use the next time your child says, "I'm bored"—how to support them without immediately rescuing, entertaining, or solving the problem for them.
One way to support them is to create a family rhythm, which you can access here.

Ep 9: You Don't have to Know the Answer
This episode is about the 3 roles you can take on during homework that are not "Now I have to be the teacher."
You don't.
Your child may need you to be the observer—"Show me how you're thinking about this."
The encourager—"Look at what you already figured out."
Or even the pause button—"Go move. We can come back to this."
For a printout with these roles, access the free course called a Calm Start.
If you want a one-stop place to build the foundation your child is missing, sign up to be a founding member of Math, Explained. The library is currently being built and will focus on your child's needs.

Ep 8: What they learn from watching
Your children borrow your nervous system—but they're also watching how you handle the hard things.
Do you solve it for them? Or give them space to struggle, think, and try again?
And while we're talking about regulation… adults need adults too.
I recently stood at a birthday party with a group of moms who just wanted to talk. Adult conversation. To laugh, share stories, and be heard by another adult.
That connection matters.
Episode 8 of Rooted and Growing is about the everyday moments that help our children grow—and remembering that you need connection, too.

Ep 7: When you hear, "I'm not smart."
Your first instinct might be to say, "Yes, you are." There is another option. It helps your child build something even more powerful—their own internal voice.
Hearing your child say, "I'm not smart," "I'm stupid," or "Everyone else gets it but me" is heartbreaking. You've watched their determination since they were little. You know what they have accomplished.
In this episode of Rooted and Growing, we'll look at what might actually be underneath those words and how you can respond without taking ownership of the struggle away from your child. We'll talk about why speed doesn't equal knowledge, how comparison can shape the way children see themselves as learners, and simple questions you can ask to move them from "I can't do this" toward "What can I try next?"

Ep 6: When you are about to lose your cool
We are managing so much right now. We're adjusting to new schedules as school starts and all the tasks that come with them. We're responding to emails we don't normally receive, signing papers, and signing up for events we didn't even know existed. It's hard to manage it all.
We get to that point where we think we've got it—and then one more thing gets added. We lose our cool. We're overwhelmed and frustrated.
We've all done it.
In this episode, you'll find practical ways to ground yourself when you're in that moment. Because whether we realize it or not, how we respond in these moments becomes a teaching moment we never planned on teaching.
If you want to work with me, you can sign up for a Personalized Learning Session.

Ep 4: You are the Guardrails
In this episode, we're looking at the everyday moments that quietly build confidence, independence, and a willingness to keep trying. The conversations in the car. The choices at the grocery store. Helping with dinner. Knowing when to step in—and when to give your child space to figure something out.
So much of what helps your child learn and grow is already happening simply because you know them, believe in them, and continue to show up beside them.
Learning to be the observer, encourager, and pause button is part of A Calm Start, a free resource.

Episode 3: Feel the Feels of the First Day of School
In this episode of Rooted and Growing, we're exploring the science behind one of the most emotional parts of the back-to-school season: separation. You'll learn why a child can genuinely enjoy school while still feeling sad to leave you, how strong attachment supports healthy development, and why those tears are often a sign of love—not a sign that something is wrong.
Building rhythms helps the brain conserve energy and create a rhythm to come back to once the school day is over. Gain access here.

Episode 2: The Productive Struggle
In this episode, I'm sharing a story from my years as a teacher and why one of the greatest gifts we can give our children isn't removing every challenge, but helping them feel safe enough to work through it. We'll explore the science behind productive struggle, why our brains grow through effort, and how your calm presence can help your child build confidence when learning feels hard.
As a new school year begins, check out a free course called a Calm Start. (https://focusandflowllc.mykajabi.com/a-calm-start) Take on different roles during homework and foster the productive struggle.

Episode 1: Your Knowledge is valuable
In this episode, I talk about the value of questions and being curious. When was the last time you experienced a series of questions from a child? This episode shines a light on what that means for you and how your child thinks of you. Enjoy the questions. That's how we learn. Your knowledge is valuable.
