New Sermon: “The Heart of a Servant”
John 13:1–17 | Gospel of John
As we enter the Upper Room Discourse, we witness one of the most beautiful demonstrations of the humility and love of Jesus Christ.
Knowing that His arrest, suffering, and crucifixion were only hours away, Jesus knelt before His disciples and began washing their feet.
The Son of God took the position of a servant.
But this remarkable act was about much more than humility. Jesus was teaching His disciples about spiritual cleansing, sacrificial love, and how we are called to care for one another, especially those who have stumbled and need restoration.
In today's message, we explore the heart of our Savior and His call for us to follow His example.
Jesus didn't come to condemn the broken, but to cleanse, restore, and save.
If we truly want to follow Jesus, we must be willing to serve like Jesus.

John 12:37-50 - "The Resistant, the Rejectors, The Fearful and Jesus"
“The Resistant, the Rejectors, The Fearful and Jesus”
John 12:37–50 | Pastor Erik Lydick
Despite witnessing the extraordinary miracles of Jesus and hearing His words, many still refused to believe. Some resisted the truth, others rejected it, and still others believed but were too afraid of what people might think to openly follow Him.
Why do people resist Jesus, even when the truth is right before them?
In this week's message, Pastor Erik explores the spiritual conditions described by the prophet Isaiah: dull hearts, heavy ears, and blind eyes. We consider how pride, unbelief, fear of man, and the desire for human approval can prevent people from surrendering their lives to Christ.
But the heart of this message is not simply about those who resist or reject Jesus. It is about Jesus' response to them.
Jesus cries out to a world living in darkness, offering light, forgiveness, and eternal life. He warns of the judgment to come, but reminds us that He came into the world to save.
There must be a reckoning in every heart. We must recognize the seriousness of our sin, acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves, and surrender to the only One who can.
Jesus Christ calls us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
Join us for this powerful conclusion to John chapter 12 as we consider the resistant, the rejectors, the fearful, and the extraordinary mercy of Jesus Christ.

John 12:37-36 - "Father, Glorify Your Name."
“Father, Glorify Your Name”
John 12:27–36
As Jesus approached the cross, He knew exactly what awaited Him. The betrayal, suffering, rejection, and crucifixion were all before Him. Yet, even as His soul was troubled, Jesus remained steadfast in His purpose.
Rather than asking to be delivered from what was coming, Jesus prayed, “Father, glorify your name.”
In this powerful passage from the Gospel of John, we explore how the cross reveals the glory of God through His holiness, righteousness, justice, and extraordinary love.
We also examine how the cross brings both judgment and salvation, defeats the power of Satan, and draws people from every nation to Jesus Christ.
And finally, we consider Jesus' urgent invitation to walk in the Light and trust in Him, even when we don't fully understand His ways.
Join Pastor Erik Lydick of First Baptist Church of Hightstown for this episode of Rooted in God's Word as we discover why the cross is not a moment of defeat, but the greatest revelation of God's glory.
