The Rooted Rhythms podcast, hosted by NRCA's Spiritual Formation and Discipleship Team, invites guests to the show for conversations that encourage listeners to sit in as the host and guests tackle tough questions or engage in discussions surrounding our culture today. Whether you are a student, parent, or community member, this podcast provides a great launching point for further discussions with your circle of people as we seek to encourage our community to establish life rhythms rooted in the truth of the Gospel and point others back to Jesus.
In a world where students are navigating questions of identity, growing cultural pressures, and competing messages about truth, how can we come alongside the next generation and equip them to know and follow Jesus? During our annual Spiritual Emphasis Week, we had the opportunity to sit down with this year’s guest speaker, Reagan Jones, for a conversation about students, the gospel, and how we can faithfully disciple this generation.
Reagan serves as the Student Pastor at The Summit Church’s Apex Campus and is also part of Summit’s teaching team. He has served in student ministry for the past eight years and has a genuine passion for seeing students know and follow Jesus. Reagan’s own life was changed when he was 16 years old after hearing the gospel at a summer camp. Now, he is passionate about helping students encounter that same God and experience the transforming power of the gospel.
In this episode, Reagan shares his perspective on the spiritual needs of this generation and the realities he sees students wrestling with. Most importantly, this conversation reminds us that the gospel remains the lasting hope for every generation.

The RIGS Project - Ricardo Ramirez
Fatherlessness is a challenging reality for many people across all parts of society. For a variety of reasons, many children grow up with an absent father—physically, emotionally, or spiritually. This sad reality, along with his own experience and God’s leading, prompted Ricardo Ramirez to co-found The RIGS Project with Mark Waller in 2025.
Ricardo and his wife Aisa have two children at NRCA. Professionally, Ricardo works as a CRNA, but his passion is to equip older men to mentor young men through a very intentional process.
The RIGS model seeks to disrupt the cycle of fatherlessness by building a multigenerational Christian brotherhood around young men for wisdom, guidance, and accountability. Over the past year, Ricardo and Mark identifiedand trained 14 men to actively mentor young men through a biblical discipleship curriculum. The first RIGS youth cohort is set to launch in October 2026.
In this episode, Ricardo shares part of his own story, which includes fatherlessness, and how God directed and provided to establish this ministry. We invite you to learn about The RIGS Project at www.rigsproject.org andconsider how you could partner in their mission.

The God Story of NRCA - Dr. Sherrill
As NRCA looks back on 30 years of ministry, we sit down for the first time with Founder and Superintendent Emeritus Dr. S.L. Sherrill, known as Doc Sherrill to many, to hear the remarkable story behind the school's beginnings. From his childhood and journey to faith in Christ to decades spent serving in Christian education, Dr. Sherrill reflects on the experiences that shaped his calling and prepared him for the work God had ahead.
He also shares what many have come to call the "God-Story Journey of NRCA"—the account of how the Lord provided for the school's launch, confirmed His direction time and again, and faithfully sustained the ministry through the years.
Whether you're new to the NRCA community or have been around for decades, this conversation offers an encouraging look at the people, prayers, and providential moments God used to bring the school into existence. Dr. Sherrill also reflects on lessons learned throughout his journey, his ongoing investment in Kingdom education, and his prayer for NRCA's future.
Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that God delights in working through people who are willing to trust Him with extraordinary assignments.
