The Music Titan Who Laid the Roots for Country & Rock 'n' Roll: Ralph Peer

🎵In this episode of Roots Music History, we trace the remarkable life and legacy of Ralph Peer—from his childhood and early exposure to recorded sound to the career that would help reshape American music. We explore how Peer entered the recording industry, how his work took him into the South in search of new talent, and how the legendary 1927 Bristol Sessions introduced the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers to a national audience. Those recordings became a defining moment in the development of country music, with Johnny Cash and others later describing the Bristol Sessions as one of the most important events in the genre’s history. This is the story of the businessman, talent scout, producer, and music publisher whose field recordings helped bring the sounds of Appalachia and the rural South into the American mainstream.🎵🎶 Roots Music History | Music Journalist & YouTube Podcaster 🎶🎸Stories of Divine Music Intervention 🎸*Member of the US Press Association* 🇺🇸On ROOTS, we dig up the roots that grew your favorite music.
