This podcast is the collection of my sermons and other opportunities to teach at the congregation I serve. I am an Episcopal priest. I am currently serving the congregation of Christ Episcopal Church in Denton, on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Here is today’s sermon, November 1, 2026, All Saints, Year A. It is based on the way that we approach saints. Instead of treating saints as statues on a pedestal, we appropriate the virtues they have demonstrated in their lives. Our challenge is to find a way of living their virtues in our existential situations.

Sermon for October 25, 2026, Proper 25, Year A
Here is today’s sermon, October 25, 2026, Proper 25, year A. It is based on Matthew 22:34-46, “Love God and Love your Neighbor”. In it I make the point that love is not an act of will, since it leads to transactional love. Instead, love is a “just and loving gaze, making someone real”, a “willingness to dwell with he strangeness of another”.

Sermon for October 18, 2026, Proper 24, Year A
Here is today’s sermon, October 18, 2026, Proper 24, Year A. It is based on Exodus 33: 12-23, Moses beholding the back side of the Glory of Almighty God. In it I make the point that God is comprehended in beauty, not power. Beauty is evocative, we “unself” in order to apprehend beauty on its own terms rather than on our own framework. Seeing in this way is Murdoch’s definition of love.
