Bible Bibs and a Prayer Season 4 Episode 11

When Our Children Are Hurting: Are We Really Listening? In this deeply personal and heartfelt episode of Bible, Bibs and a Prayer, Brother Jim and David set aside the usual jokes and laughter to tackle a subject that hits close to home: the growing struggles facing our children and teenagers, the devastating impact of suicide, and the responsibility we all share to recognize when someone is hurting. Drawing from personal experiences, heartbreaking tragedies in their own community, and the truth of God's Word, Jim and David ask some difficult but necessary questions. Are we truly listening to our children? Are we so caught up in our busy lives that we fail to notice the pain they may be carrying? And what can parents, grandparents, teachers, pastors, and churches do to make sure no child feels they have to face their struggles alone? Through Scripture, including Psalm 34:18, Galatians 6:2, James 1:19, and Romans 12:15, this conversation reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted and calls us to bear one another's burdens. The guys discuss the pressures of social media, bullying, loneliness, family struggles, mental health, and the importance of creating safe spaces where children can speak honestly without fear of judgment. They also emphasize an important truth: faith and professional mental health care can work together. Sometimes helping someone begins with something as simple as putting down our phones, making time to listen, and asking, "What's going on, and how can I help?" This episode is a call to action for families, churches, and communities to step up, show compassion, and become the caring presence our children desperately need. We may not have all the answers, but we can choose to listen, love, pray, and help those who are struggling find the support they need. As Brother Jim shares from his own journey through some of life's darkest moments, he reminds us that God can redeem our past, restore our hope, and give us a reason to keep moving forward. The message is simple but powerful: You have meaning. You have value. And most of all, you are loved. Join Jim and David for a serious, honest, and prayer-filled conversation about protecting our children, supporting struggling families, and making sure nobody has to walk through their darkest days alone. Because every child matters. Every life has value. And there is always hope in Jesus. 🙏 Scripture Focus: Psalm 34:18 | Galatians 6:2 | James 1:19 | Romans 12:15 A Note for Those Who Are Struggling: If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of suicide, please reach out for help. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911.

Bible Bibs and a Prayer Season 4 Episode 10

Athletica: When Sports Become More Important Than God! 🏒🙏 Do you believe in miracles? Well, Brother Jim and David are back for another lively Thursday edition of Bible, Bibs and a Prayer, and this time they're hitting the ice, cracking jokes, reminiscing about the good old days, and tackling a subject that might step on a few toes! From the legendary 1980 “Miracle on Ice” to hockey fights, Gen X memories, and David's career as a before-picture fitness model, the guys bring plenty of laughs to the table. But beneath the humor lies an important conversation about something much bigger than sports. Picking up where Tuesday's episode left off, Brother Jim and David continue exploring the idea of “Athletica”—the growing devotion to youth sports that can sometimes take priority over faith, family, and time with God. When children spend countless hours practicing, competing, traveling, and chasing the next big opportunity, are we teaching them the same dedication to following Jesus? Brother Jim challenges parents and grandparents to consider what their children are learning by watching them. Kids quickly discover what matters most to their families—not just through what we say, but through how we spend our time, where we invest our money, and what gets us excited. If we can teach our children the names of every sports star, the rules of the game, and the history of our favorite teams, shouldn't we also be teaching them about the heroes of the Bible and the love of Jesus Christ? This isn't about giving up sports! Athletics can teach teamwork, discipline, commitment, and perseverance. The real question is whether we've found a healthy balance—or whether Jesus is getting whatever time and attention we have left over. Join the guys for an honest, humorous, and challenging discussion about parenting, discipleship, commitment, and the importance of living out our faith at home. Because following Jesus isn't just about showing up at church; it's about making Him part of our everyday lives. In this episode: 🏒 Celebrating hockey and the unforgettable Miracle on Ice. 😂 Gen X nostalgia, terrible jokes, and David's unexpected modeling career. 🏆 Exploring “Athletica” and the demands of year-round youth sports. 👨👩👧👦 Teaching children and grandchildren what truly matters. 📖 Why biblical knowledge and discipleship must begin at home. ❤️ Making Jesus a priority instead of giving Him our leftovers. 🙏 Closing in prayer for families, our nation, and persecuted Christians around the world. So grab your Bible, silence those distractions, straighten up those bibs, and join Brother Jim and David for another episode filled with laughter, faith, and a whole lot to think about! Bible, Bibs and a Prayer — Where God's Word is alive, the Holy Spirit is always invited, and the puck always stops here! 🏒📖🙏
