Day 1998 — Two Days From 2000, Injured and Freezing, and What That's Teaching Me About Milestones

I am two days away from 2000 consecutive days of daily running, and today I was hobble-jogging through a foot injury in minus one degree wind chill in the UK. My feet were numb, my fingers were gone, my face was freezing. Not what most people would picture two days before a milestone.

But that is the point I want to sit with in today's episode. When I reach 2000 days on Friday, the number itself is not what I will be reflecting on. What I will be thinking about are all of the individual runs — the ones through illness, injury, anxiety, and pressure — that compounded into that count. Those are the runs that actually built this streak. Not the smooth ones. The ones that nearly did not happen.

I am currently 19,980km into a barefoot-style lap of the world. The target is 40,075km. The mission behind all of it is to raise £1 million for children's causes including Great Ormond Street Hospital and BBC Children in Need. I will be seeing a specialist about this injury and that appointment will determine a great deal about the road ahead. But day 2000 is happening. Two more days.

If any of this resonates, please share it. More people following this journey means more raised for children who need it.

#streakrunning #injuryrecovery #barefootrunning #mindset #ukrunnerscommunity #runnerslifestyle #ultrarunninglife #runformentalhealth #strava #stravarun #Insta360 #vibramfivefingers

Day 1997 — Three Days From 2,000 and Running on a Possible Stress Fracture

This episode is not about triumph. It is about what happens when a milestone gets close and your body starts to give way. On day 1997 of my consecutive daily running streak, I am hobbling through five kilometre runs with what specialists are concerned may be a stress fracture in my right foot. Each session right now feels like the final kilometres of an ultramarathon — slow, painful, and requiring a very deliberate decision to keep going. In this episode I reflect on what it means to be three days away from 2,000 consecutive days under these circumstances, why overcoming adversity produces a deeper satisfaction than easy achievement, and how I am approaching the decision to continue with proper medical guidance. I am now at 19,970 kilometres of a 40,075km lap of the earth, with £70,000 raised toward a £1 million mission for children's causes. The milestone is close. The cost is real. And I think that is exactly the point. If you are on any kind of long-term streak or daily commitment, this one is worth a listen.

#streakrunning #runninginjured #barefootrunning #endurancemindset #ukrunnerscommunity #runnerslifestyle #ultrarunninglife #runformentalhealth #strava #stravarun #Insta360 #vibramfivefingers

Day 1996 — When Everything Goes Wrong and You Still Have to Keep Going

Today was one of those days where the problems just kept stacking up. It started at a minor injuries unit, where I am waiting to find out whether a foot injury is a stress fracture or a stress reaction. From there it moved into a difficult day in business — a property snagging issue, a financing challenge, and meetings to wrap up two recently closed businesses.

I am on day 1996 of a consecutive daily running streak covering 40,075km for children's causes, and 19,960km in, some days are genuinely hard. Not dramatically hard. Just quietly, persistently draining in a way that takes something from you.

In this episode I talk honestly about what it feels like to take knock after knock in a single day, and why the way you respond to problems matters far more than the volume of problems themselves. The most effective people are not those with the fewest problems — they are the ones who process and solve them most efficiently.

I still have 20,115km to run. The mission continues. If you are in a season of life or business where everything seems to be stacking up at once, this one is for you.

Support the fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital and BBC Children in Need via the links in the episode notes.

#problemsolving #streakrunning #entrepreneurmindset #resilience #ukrunnerscommunity #runnerslifestyle #ultrarunninglife #runformentalhealth #strava #stravarun #Insta360 #vibramfivefingers
