The Feminist Stare & The Manosphere’s Gender Role Freak Show The Feminist Stare & The Manosphere’s Gender Role Freak Show (video essay)

Read the companion article on substack: https://substack.com/@s0wets0dry/postsRead a Fiji's poem inpired by her experiences with the feminist stare: https://www.dreamboybook.club/fijiHow much of the manosphere is feminist backlash? In episode 3 of s0 wet s0 dry’s manosphere series, Fiji is wet, dry, and fxcking confused about the feminist stare and the manosphere’s gender role freakshow.Picking up where we left off last episode, Fiji dissects Myron Gaines' claims against feminists in his book Why Women Deserve Less, which focuses on Beyoncé’s song Irreplaceable and her alleged hypergamy and feminist hypocrisy for taking Jay-Z back after he cheated. After covering the true origins of the song and the blatant misinformation that Myron spouts, Fiji explore how women’s notice and a record of their noticing was prohibited throughout history under patriarchy. Fiji uses Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own to establish the necessity for women to have their own room and money to be able to create. Social media became a collective “room of our own” and a tool of resistance for women to safely (sometimes) and freely record their noticings, leading to an overwhelming societal consciousness of the “Feminist Stare,” a term Fiji coins and explains in the video. She also cover the intersection of race, considering many of the manosphere men are men of color who have some valid claims against white feminists that are frequently overlooked. I use Angela Davis’s Women, Race, and Class, Sinners, and Get Out to explain some of the tension between men of color and white or light-skinned women surrounding hypergamy and gender roles. The manosphere’s gender role freak show is protest theatre with men like Myron, Walter, Andrew Wilson, or Brian Atlas as the ringleaders directing your attention to how men are disabled and oppressed under the feminist stare while feminists push anti-male propaganda. By presenting the show as social experiment, they attempt to prove their misogynistic points about male and female nature, but in reality, they are hunting women with feminist values to label them as freaks and discourage women from holding any feminist views. This witch hunt mimics the McCarthy Era hunt for communists and Myron even makes that reference himself. The goal is to market the sentiment that women with feminist values are not worthy of love. It also has an underlying sexual tone that objectifies the women and aims to put them in their place by dominating them with “logic.”Fiji reacts to a clip of Fresh and Fit about Undercover Feminists, The Whatever Podcast about Conservative Feminists, and SOSCast about Women Living Life on Easy Mode to illustrate the misogyny, dated gender roles, and misplaced blame in these manosphere influencers’ claims. Finally, Fiji conclude with the fact that in modern society, the men who push traditional gender roles are the true freaks, pulling from James Baldwin’s essay, Freaks and The American Ideal of Manhood, before still urging that we practice radical empathy and adopt baroque stares, pulling from Rosemarie Garland-Thomson’s book Stares: How We Look. The main manosphere claims this episode addresses:-Feminists are to blame for anti-male propaganda and oppressing men-Women Live Life on Easy Mode-Women must obey their male partners-Beyonce is the biggest feminist con artist-Women will not find love if they are feminists-All feminists are all hypergamous hypocrites-Women are born with inherent valueSources: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1amZJ1kRUu3Q1PGFxC_ELyTC-L0biJxfFEyDF6sjOdLw/edit?tab=t.0 follow on instagram and tiktok: @s0wets0dryFiji (researcher, writer, host, editor, producer) instagram: @s0wet Disclaimer: This video is for entertainment, journalistic, and educational purposes only. "Why Women Deserve Less" by Myron Gaines vs the History of Marriage

Read the companion article on Female Rage and Making Nice on Substack: https://s0wets0dry.substack.com/p/female-rage-and-making-niceWelcome to episode 2 of my Manosphere series! In this episode, we fact-check Myron Gaines new book “Why Women Deserve Less” against the actual history of marriage. Through research from Stephanie Coontz’ “Marriage, A History,” Angela Davis’ “Women, Race & Class,” and personal anecdotes from “This American Ex-Wife” by Lyz Lenz, we trace a much darker history of heterosexual relationships and gender roles than the “Old Contract” that Myron romanticizes.Despite Myron’s attempts to dodge accusations of misogyny by pushing a narrative of male self-help advice, his book Why Women Deserve Less relies on the red pill’s strict gender role beliefs that dehumanize women and encourage abusive tactics found in the domestic violence Wheel of Power and Control. My review of Myron Gaines’ Why Women Deserve Less argues that he romanticizes the very sexist, misogynistic, and white supremacist history of heterosexual marriage and encourages men to avoid romantic relations with women unless the codes of the past are strictly reinforced. If you are experiencing domestic violence, you are not alone. If you need immediate support, call 800-799-SAFE or get resources online at https://www.thehotline.org/plan-for-safety/ I made it out, and so can you. I promise you, life gets so, so, so much better on the other side, and I am so excited for you to meet a version of yourself that spends her days as she wishes and with a calm nervous system. The Manosphere’s Marketing Strategy: Nurturing the Frankenstein of Male Insecurity

The manosphere’s marketing strategy relies on men and boys’ insecurities. It is the patriarchy’s hot and sexy rebrand and this is only the beginning. Welcome to episode 1 of my 4 part video essay series on the manosphere where I break down how men’s growing corner of internet culture, the manosphere, has identified their target demographic’s pain points and speak to them in a tone that evokes action. From the belief that men have no value to the need to be heroes to the fear of vulnerability, I expose the male loneliness epidemic and men’s mental health crisis for what it is: the effects of internalized patriarchal conditioning and a lack of self-work outside traditional ideals of masculinity. We’re talking: Louis Theroux’s Netflix documentary Inside the Manosphere, Warren Farrell’s The Myth of Male Power, men’s rights activists, Justin Waller’s Buy The Man a Beer Campaign and the JWaller Group, military propaganda, heros verus villans, predictive analysis, pseudo-science, bell hooks’ The Will to Change, Terrence Real’s How Can I Get Through To You?, HS Tikky Tokky, Myron Gaines and FreshandFit, Clavicular, lookism, and looksmaxxing, the science of marketing, marketing funnels, and the manosphere pipeline.
