Episode 10 - The Yoga Mechanic - Brett Rivero - Creating Depth

This week we are joined by Brett Rivero—yoga teacher and car mechanic. In his former life, Brett physically took care of his body, chased money, and drove nice cars all to maintain the tough guy exterior. This lifestyle combined with little self-care and alcohol abuse led him to serious injury.   While working on a car one day, Brett’s C5 and C6 vertebrae went in opposite directions, leaving him with a loss of sensation to parts of his body. Doctors wanted to perform surgery, but Brett was skeptical.   About a month before the injury he attended a yoga class but didn’t think much of it. Only after injuring his body and ego did Brett realize during that class; he found the power to create true depth within and manifest the things he truly desired.   He decided to study yoga on his how through books, and by training himself every morning. As with all journeys there were many failures, but he managed to stumble into the depths of himself.   Through dedication, Brett’s spine started to heal, and created a cascade of healing in other parts of his life. Physically he opened up, sparking emotional processing that he previously hadn’t experienced. Website: https://legionyoga.thinkific.com ▶︎ Instagram: @brett.rivero Join the Sacred Wolf Yoga Pack! EPISODE 9: Yoga Teacher - Claudia Cavazza – Breath Awareness

This week's senior VETOGA teacher, Claudia Cavazza, speaks of generational trauma that trickled down from her grandfather’s experience fighting in World War II. A conversation Claudia had with VETOGA founder and Marine Veteran, Justin Blazejewski, helped her recognize her grandfather’s PTSD. By doing so, she also found the ability to heal the scars she received from him. That moment inspired her to bring yoga to populations that require trauma-informed care. Specifically, she focuses on breath awareness to shift feelings of anxiety into a sense of physical safety. Claudia has also shared the magic of breath control with first responders. She believes breath empowers us to witness the world by stepping away from reactive behaviors that often aren’t useful in regular life.  Website: https://www.wrkwell.org Join the Sacred Wolf Yoga Pack!
