The role of safety is highly visible in some industries (think construction or energy). In others, it may not seem so obvious (think entertainment or museums). But in some form or fashion, safety is everywhere, in all industries, always. Join BCSP CEO Christy Uden as she visits inspiring safety professionals to learn why they do what they do, how they build their safety cultures, and just what that looks like in their unique settings. This is Safety on Location.
In Part 2 of our conversation with L'Oréal, we step inside L'Oréal’s Research and Innovation facility in New Jersey to explore how safety operates in an unexpected setting: a working salon.
What appears to be a familiar environment quickly reveals a complex safety landscape where employees, consumers, and live product testing intersect. From ventilation systems to engineering controls to detailed emergency planning, Vice President of EHS Laynnea Myles explains how safety is built into the space through a collaborative EHS 360 program, which builds trust and minimizes risk.
Listeners will also hear about Laynnea’s journey into the profession and how mentorship, networking, and certification helped shape her career. She also shares invaluable advice for those new to the field, offering a fresh perspective on safety that goes far beyond the salon chair.
