[…] But I've always loved inland waterways and the French canals have always been a bucket list item for me. Moreover, the more deeply I dived into the research, the more serious sailors I found who had done it and loved it. Many of them say it's one of the best experiences they've had on the water, and that cemented my decision. Now, I've been to France many times in my life. I speak the language reasonably well, having studied it for eight years at school, and it is one of my favorite countries. It's one of the largest and most geographically varied places on the continent, and I always find visiting beguiling and relaxing. […]
