South Australian visual artist Stephanie Doddridge chats with SALA about her arts practice which explores relationships between people, plants and places through sculpture, installation, textiles, printmaking, and knowledge-sharing. Drawing on practices of care and site-responsive research, Doddridge investigates how everyday acts of tending and cultivating can grow more nourishing, reciprocal relationships with the natural world. We hear about her time learning from Bio.R, and discuss 'Tools for Quiet Activism', her exhibition at the Museum of Economic Botany during the 2026 SALA Festival.

2026 SALA Feature Artist Interview: Troy-Anthony Baylis
In this episode, SALA catches up with Troy-Anthony Baylis, the 2026 SALA Feature Artist.We trace the early years of his practice, 'whammies', and the many cultural intersections explored in his work. Troy-Anthony speaks to the artwork that features on the SALA Program, 'Modesty Set 1 (pink and apple green)', as well as his 2026 SALA exhibition 'Pile-up' at Adelaide Central Gallery, and the book about his work being published this year by Wakefield Press.

Artist Interview: Elizabeth Close
In this episode, SALA chats to artist Elizabeth Close. Elizabeth talks about the path she took to becoming a visual artist and how her love of art was influenced by her grandmother. She discusses how her work is inspired by other indigenous artists, such as Nyunmiti Burton, and non-indigenous artists like Georgina Hill, and how her practice has become more diverse over the years. She reveals some of her favourite works and the reasons why she holds them in high regard. She talks about her recent recovery from brain surgery and how keen she is to get back into the studio to work on a new cultural sovereignty project that’s in the making.
Finally, she tells listeners where they can find some of her collaborative works around the city of Adelaide, including the mural of Uncle Stevie Gadlabarti Goldsmith on Wright Street.
