#166 Building Confidence to Lead and Influence
In this episode, Sally Allen shares a powerful perspective on what it really takes to build confidence, gain visibility, and grow in your career without feeling like you are constantly self-promoting.
Many professionals believe that doing good work should be enough to get noticed. But the truth is, visibility matters. If your leaders do not understand the value you bring, the problems you solve, and the influence you have within your team, they may not see you as ready for the next opportunity.
Sally breaks down how confidence is not something you simply wait to feel. It is something you build through action, reflection, and documented wins. She explains why keeping track of your achievements, your team’s progress, and the impact of your contributions can help you communicate your value with clarity and confidence. This conversation is especially important for professionals who want to grow into leadership, ask for a raise, prepare for a promotion, or become more visible in their organization without feeling uncomfortable or overly self-focused.
Sally also reminds us that leadership is not limited to a job title. Leadership is influence. It is how you build trust, support your team, communicate effectively, and help others succeed. When you learn how to highlight team achievements, you are not just promoting yourself.
You are showing the impact of your leadership. If you have ever struggled with speaking up about your accomplishments, advocating for yourself, or making your work more visible to leadership, this episode will give you practical steps to start doing it in a way that feels authentic, professional, and aligned with your values.
