Dr. Dad - Webb Smith

This week, we are joined by our former classmate, Dr. Webb Smith. We jump right into Webbs childhood and what set him up to be the man and Father is he is today. We also talk about his journey through a decade of college and he managed a marriage, fatherhood, etc all while getting his doctorate.  Webb shares how him and his wife met and their journey through this crazy thing we call life.   We also talk about Webbs sons, Carter and Cohen and how he connects with each one on a different level, depending on their respective interests/hobbies.  Webb also shares how him and his wife, Courtney have navigated life as parents of a child with special needs including how they shared information with him even at a young age. We end with Webb sharing his one piece of advice he would have for an expectant father, you will definitely want to take his advice and use it in your parenting life!   This is a powerful story, I encourage everyone to listen and let us know what you think!

Tough Conversations - Dad Edition

This week, DB and I talk about something most dads will deal with at some point or another, the loss of the family pet and how to break the news to the kids. Also who handles it better, the kids or the parents?  We also dive into Trey turning 16 and how to handle the transition from boyhood to manhood, from a fathers perspective. This is a tough one and of course, we dont have all the answers but we are figuring it out day by day!  We then get into a throwback, an update on the JonBenet Ramsey case from over 25 years ago what is new there in regards to new DNA technology and how we, as fathers, can empathize with never letting go even over 25 years later.

Same Ish - Husband Edition

This week, DB and I sit down and rap about something that we both hold in the highest regard...being a husband.  We talk about how we both got there, DB being with his wife for 22 YEARS and me...well I am a 2 time marriage champion so listen to hear more about both of those stories. We also talk about how we think our kids will immolate our behavior with our wives with our spouses and if we are setting the best example and even how we have adjusted our own behavior along the way.  We end by talking about co-parenting and how to navigate that journey with one goal in mind.....THE KIDS!  DISCLAIMER: we are NOT marriage counselors so what has worked for us (or has not worked) might (or might not) work for you but we still hope you learn something from this one!
