‘We Are Not Terrorists’: Jonathon Porritt on Support for Palestine Action

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit zeteo.uk (https://zeteo.uk?utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=CTA_7) Sir Jonathon Porritt is one of the UK’s most prominent and respected environmentalists. His career spans 50 years, and in that time he’s gone from grassroots activism to advising governments and royalty; he’s led international charities and the Green Party. In 2021, he was awarded CBE for his services to environmental protection. Now in his 70s, he’s returned to his campaigning roots, co-authoring a book with 26 young Just Stop Oil activists. ‘Love Anger and Betrayal’ takes us into the lives of these activists as they carry out civil disobedience to end the UK government's reliance on fossil fuels. A fierce defender of direct action himself, Porritt was arrested last year for holding up a placard which read ‘ I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action’. Now in this extensive interview for ‘Sangita Meets…’ Sangita asks Porritt about the attack on free speech in the UK, what it means for the world if China becomes the global leader in renewables, and why capitalism needs reforming if we want to save the planet. ‘Poison Pen’ of the Press Killed Jason Arday, Misan Harriman Tells Sangita Myska

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit zeteo.uk (https://zeteo.uk?utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=CTA_7) Just 8 years ago, Misan Harriman was working in the city as a headhunter. Then, on his 40th birthday, his wife gave him a camera as a present, and the rest, as they say, is history. Since then, Misan’s rise to fame has been meteoric. He’s now an internationally renowned photographer whose photos reveal the human faces behind global protest movements, from BLM, climate, LGBTQ+ and pro-Palestine rallies. He’s also known for his portraiture of Hollywood celebrities, including intimate moments with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and their children. An activist at heart, Misan has a huge social media following and uses his platform to call out racism and social injustice, of all kinds. Yet it was his support for Gaza that led to controversy in the British press, with 4 right-wing newspapers claiming his views were “anti-semitic.” Now, in this intimate and in-depth interview for “Sangita Meets…” Sangita asks Misan about press culpability in the tragic death of British academic Jason Arday, how he responds to criticisms that he’s part of the British elite & what it means to be close friends with Prince Harry & Meghan Markle. EXCLUSIVE: TV’s Nadia Sawalha Opens Up on Her Legal Action Against ITV and Why She Won’t Stop Talking About Gaza

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit zeteo.uk (https://zeteo.uk?utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=CTA_7) Though Nadia Sawalha has acted in some of the country’s most popular soaps, the British public have come to know her best for her nearly three-decade run as presenter of one of ITV’s flagship daytime shows, ‘Loose Women’. But when she started speaking out for Palestine after Israel launched its war against Gaza in the wake of the October 7 attacks, Nadia tells Zeteo UK’s Sangita Myska she was, without warning, taken off air (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cqx7ql4xqg3o). Her bosses, she says, told her “it’s a bit noisy out there.” “I took it to mean… your beliefs, your passion, your anti-genocide, all of that… it’s creating noise we don’t want. It’s uncomfortable for us,” Nadia says. Now, in this exclusive, inaugural “Sangita Meets…” interview – Nadia’s first with independent media since launching legal action (https://elsc.support/elsc-takes-legal-action-against-itv-on-behalf-of-nadia-sawalha/) against one of the UK’s top broadcasters – Nadia says she hopes her case will set a precedent. “We must make it more difficult to treat people unfairly, individuals unfairly, that are following their absolute moral compass.” In this wide-ranging and fascinating podcast conversation, Sangita also asks Nadia about her Jordanian roots, fighting back against accusations of antisemitism, how it felt to receive a formal apology and libel damages (https://pressgazette.co.uk/media_law/daily-mail-and-metro-to-pay-substantial-libel-damages-nadia-sawalha-mark-adderley/) from the Daily Mail after a defamation lawsuit, and why Nadia believes that legal proceedings against ITV will mean the end of her career as an actress. Zeteo UK has contacted ITV for comment, but as of publication, the company has not responded. *BIG NEWS*: Sangita Myska Launches New Zeteo UK Podcast

(https://zeteo.uk/)Zeteo UK (https://zeteo.uk/) is about to launch a new video podcast series, ‘Sangita Meets…’, hosted by award-winning journalist Sangita Myska. The inaugural episode features an exclusive interview with TV personality and actress Nadia Sawalha as its first guest. This is Sawalha’s first independent media interview since she launched legal action (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cqx7ql4xqg3o) against one of the UK’s top broadcasters, ITV, the network which took her off the air as a founding panelist on the popular daytime talk show “Loose Women” after she began speaking publicly in support of Palestine. ”Why is everybody bloody whispering about an atrocity, an absolute atrocity that we can watch live?” Sawalha tells Myska. Similarly, Myska was removed (https://www.palestinechronicle.com/within-48-hours-i-was-off-air-sangita-myska-on-lbc-exit-after-challenging-israel/) from her role at LBC after challenging an Israel government spokesman in a live interview over the genocide in Gaza. The two speak candidly about the backlash they’ve received for criticizing Israel, jeopardising their careers to stand against injustice. But this is just the first episode of ‘Sangita Meets…’. Each episode will bring you unfiltered, wide-ranging interviews with cultural and political figures, and conversations that take you beyond the soundbite, freely and without bias. So what are you waiting for? Subscribe (http://zeteo.uk/subscribe) to Zeteo UK to be the first to watch ‘Sangita Meets…’ and receive hard-hitting, fearless journalism, direct to your inbox.
