"I Sold a Gun to the Guy Who Led Me to Jesus" w/ Kevi Morse - Ep. 11
At 15, Kevi Morse was selling guns in his neighborhood to help his mom make ends meet. One of the guys he sold to later gave his life to Christ, started witnessing to Kevi every time he came by the studio, and eventually led him to Jesus.
Today Kevi is a hip-hop artist, producer, songwriter, and DJ who tours full-time in schools, reaching over 77,000 students last year with a simple message: you have purpose, and you have value. In this episode, Cole and Christian talk with Kevi about:
Why the real test started after he got saved
Walking through loss and grief without putting on a mask
Sharing your faith in places where you can't openly preach
Writing for mainstream artists without compromising
Encouragement for anyone working a 9-to-5 while chasing a bigger dream
Stories of God moving in the streets and in the schools

"I Was Either Going to Die or Surrender" w/ Canaan Lucas - Ep. 10
Canaan was a worship leader, yet behind the stage lights she was hiding addiction and hidden sin. Canaan Lucas sits down with Christian and Cole to tell the story most people never got to hear.
Canaan opens up about becoming pregnant at 17 in an abusive marriage, finding her footing at Mercy Ministries in Nashville, and then spending years leading worship while quietly falling apart. She talks about the moment at 44 years old, alone in a detox bed with COVID, when she realized it was surrender or death, and how that single choice rebuilt her identity from the ground up. This isn't a cleaned-up testimony. It's the real one: comfort, counterfeit, and all.
This episode is for anyone who's performing for an audience of everyone except God, anyone white-knuckling their way through addiction, and anyone who needs to hear that surrender isn't the end of the story. It's the start of it.

"Do you know what you're asking God for?" - Ep. 9
There's a song a lot of us sing in church asking God to "open the scroll" and "break the seal." Do we actually know what we're asking for?
Christian and Cole dig into Revelation and the scroll only Christ is found worthy to open, the culmination of human history itself. They talk through what it means that we're currently living under a season of God's grace before judgment, why breaking the seal is really a request for Jesus to return, and what it looks like to actually answer the invitation in Revelation 3: "I stand at the door and knock."
A conviction-heavy episode for anyone who's sung the words without sitting with what they mean, and anyone wondering if they've truly let God in.

Why do bad things happen to good people? - Ep. 8
Ever had a pastor tell you God is a loving, perfect Father... and then remembered the Book of Job? Yeah, that was Christian's week. This episode kicks off with an honest gut check: how do you square a good God with the fact that He straight up told Satan "go ahead, test my servant"?
Christian and Cole read through the actual conversation between God and Satan in Job 2, roast Job's three friends for their genuinely bad takes on suffering (seriously, wait till you hear Bildad's), and sit with God's response out of the whirlwind, which honestly kind of ends the debate. They also get into why the cross isn't supposed to make logical sense, why doubting your faith might be one of the healthiest things you can do, and a hard truth: the more you're actually used by God, the bigger the target gets on your back.
If you're in a season of unanswered suffering right now, or you've been made to feel like you're not allowed to ask God the hard questions, this one's for you.

"God told me to delete my YouTube channel" w/ David Altizer - Ep. 7
David Altizer had built a YouTube channel to nearly 100,000 subscribers and a full-time income, then heard God tell him, in one quiet moment, to give it all away.
Christian and Cole sit down with David, a YouTube strategist and thumbnail designer, to talk about the small still voice that told him to delete the channel, the verse God used to confirm it, and what happened financially in the weeks after he actually obeyed.
A conversation about surrender, identity outside of your job, and what it looks like to trust God with the thing you built your life on.

"God met me when I had nothing to give" w/ Stuart McCloud - Ep. 6
Stuart McCloud was a worship leader on the outside and falling apart on the inside, leading Sunday mornings while secretly living a completely different life.
Christian and Cole sit down with him, the first-ever guest on Save a Seat, to talk about the moment God met him with nothing left to give, why he fasted music for 30 days, and how idolizing the church almost cost him his faith entirely.
A raw, honest conversation for anyone stuck between who they're pretending to be and who God says they already are.

Christian and Cole discuss "the inability to be perfect" - the idea that while we should strive to sin less as Christians, we will always be imperfect and have to embrace God's mercy and grace when we fall short.

Save a Seat - trailer
What happens when you stop playing it safe and start seeking the truth of God with everything you have?
Welcome to Save a Seat, a podcast hosted by Christian Makoa and Cole Fryar. This show was born out of a simple vision: to share the things we are actively learning as we aim to live out our faith with boldness and transparency.
The title is our mission. We save a seat for Jesus as the center of every conversation. We save a seat for the guests who join us to share their stories. And most importantly, we save a seat for you, the listener, to join a community that isn’t afraid of the deep end.
We believe the Gospel should be shared without a filter. That is why we are diving into a wide range of topics that define our generation. We talk about the Bible and the nuances of modern relationships. We also tackle the heavy cultural issues that many avoid, including abortion, the LGBT movement, the impact of technology on the soul, mental health, and the future of the Church.
Inspired by a raw and cinematic approach to faith, this podcast is for those who are hungry for something real. We are not here to compromise or ride the fence. We are here to stand firm, speak the truth in love, and encourage you to do the same.
The table is set and the invitation is open. We Save a Seat for you. Will you take it?
Subscribe and join the conversation every Wednesday.
