39 Minutes Absolutely Glazing 'The Odyssey'
<p>ITHACA OR BUST.</p><br><p>Yes, after a two-week odyssey across everyone else's podcast and the South of France where it was nearly 40 degrees, I have returned home to find my house in disarray and my podcast being supplanted by other suitors. Or something. Whatever. I finally got to see 'The Odyssey' last night in the Irish Film Institute in glorious 70mm and this is my 39-minute glazing of what I saw. It was incredible. A genuine sensory experience of the foundations of storytelling, an indictment of our current world order told through Greek mythology, a whopper of a score by Ludwig Goransson, and just all the BS surrounding it too. 'Supergirl' + 'RuPaul's Drag Race' w/ Conor Behan

WHATEVER.</p><br><p>On this week's episode, 2FM / The George's Conor Behan lands on Screenland to talk 'Supergirl', the latest in James Gunn's reimagined and reinvigorated DC-iverse with Milly Alcock in the cape. Does it have the appeal to reach wide audiences? Is that even a thing anymore? Does it live up to the imagined hype? Was there even hype about this, to begin with? </p><br><p>Elsewhere, Conor takes us into the rich and vibrant world of 'RuPaul's Drag Race', going from the early '90s TV successes through to the rise of the show that's now even got its own movie in 'Stop! 'Toy Story 5' + 'House of the Dragon' Szn 3
<p>TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES - PLEASE STAND BY.</p><br><p>Unfortunately, we were supposed to be joined by none other than Screenland regular Deirdre Molumby but technology and fate intervened and it wasn't to be, so you're stuck with me this week. Nevertheless, it's still an OK show? I guess? Anyway, this week I'm talking about basically the only movie out in cinemas this week, 'Toy Story 5'. Has the franchise run out of steam? Are toys as we know it done for in the age of screens? Why has it taken this long for Conan O'Brien to finally do what he was always meant to do, which is voice a toilet-training device in a major animated film? </p><br><p>Elsewhere, we're musing on the latest season of 'House of the Dragon', how I still can't get over how bad the final season of 'Game of Thrones' was, and how 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' basically saved me from myself. We're also oversharing about parenting and non-parenting, Elton John, and loads more! I'm on my own this week and I hate it! Yaaay!</p><hr><p style='color:grey; font-size:0.75em;'> Hosted on Acast.
