So it's worth noting, there was a decision made by Colonial Pipeline to pay the ransom. So they did pay the 75 Bitcoin and received a decryption tool and a decryption key. um what i found interesting reading through this chat and it's funny because i'm actually and maybe this is a separate uh conversation to have if it's absolutely critical i'm actually pro paying the ransom and i know that i don't believe you sit in the same spectrum there um But what I find interesting is they paid, they got the decryption key, they got the tool, but they actually found that the decryption tool was poorly written and incredibly slow, and it was faster to restore from backups.
