Self love advice that isn't love yourself more

After hearing advice like “love yourself more,” I wanted to make a video about self love and some of the things that have genuinely helped me love myself more. I never set out on a self love journey or made it a goal to figure out how to love yourself. When I think about how I’ve changed over time, I realise that I used to think self love meant becoming a better version of myself — one that didn’t feel resentment, anger, frustration, or discomfort. I thought loving yourself was about reaching a place of inner peace and contentment (which I laugh about now). What my personal development journey has shown me is that self love isn’t about getting rid of the parts of yourself you struggle with. It’s not about feeling calm all the time or finally “arriving” at some healed version of yourself. A lot of what helped me came from changing how I relate to myself as I am, even when things feel messy or uncomfortable. In this episode, I share the best self love advice I have so far — advice that isn’t simply “love yourself more,” but things I learned along the way that helped me find self love without trying to force it. If you’re interested in mental health, personal growth, mindset, or learning how to love yourself in a way that feels more honest and realistic, I hope this episode resonates with you.

Going No Contact With A Parent // Why It Was The Best Thing For Me

This episode is a really personal one. I’m talking about what it’s been like to go no contact with my dad — how I came to that decision, what it looked like in real life, and why it wasn’t something I rushed into.   I share the messy parts too: the therapy sessions that helped me see some of his narcissistic patterns, the arguments that kept spiraling, and the point where I realized boundaries just weren’t working anymore. For me, no contact wasn’t about holding a grudge — it was about finally having space to breathe, figure out who I am, and stop getting pulled back into the same toxic cycle.   In this chat, I get into: What starting “no contact” actually looked like for me How therapy and boundary work gave me the push I needed The guilt, family drama, and awkwardness that came with the choice Why it ended up being one of the most healing things I’ve done   If you’re thinking about going no contact with a parent (or already have), I hope this feels like sitting down with a friend who gets it. It’s not easy and I hope this episode will support you in making the decision that feels right for you!   Join the email community // Get reflections, insights, and practical tools to support your personal development journey—delivered straight to your inbox. 👉 https://selfdevelopmentcollective.com/email-sign-up/   Say hi // TikTok → https://tiktok.com/@selfdevelopmentcollect Instagram → https://instagram.com/selfdevelopmentcollective/ Facebook → https://www.facebook.com/selfdevelopmentcollective/
