As our culture becomes increasingly secular, following Jesus becomes increasingly visible. More and more, our neighbors, coworkers, classmates, and even family members are asking, "Why would you believe that?" "Why would you live that way?"

So, how should followers of Jesus publicly identify with Him in an increasingly hostile world? Peter has some thoughts...

----------

Doxa, Church, Seattle, Redmond, Bellevue, Sammamish, Issaquah, Woodinville, Bothell, Washington, Acts 29, Jesus, God, Holy Spirit

Every sin begins as a hope problem before it becomes a behavior problem. While we often approach temptation with a goal of elimination, a far more effective approach is to replace our sinful desire with a promise that Jesus offers. This framework is summarized with three questions. What is this thing's promise to me? Why does that promise sound so good right now? What has Christ promised that is better? Whether you are struggling with approval, pornography, or anger (or anything else), Jesus can meet you in that space to fulfill the innate need driving the desire.
.
Doxa Church meets in Redmond weekly on Sundays at 9am and 11am. We would love to have you join us!

What do you think is the greatest danger facing the American church today?

The answer might feel painfully obvious: sexual ethics... political polarization... indoctrination in public schools...
deconstruction?... technology... ai?... consumerism?

After reading 1 Peter I wonder if he'd point to something even deeper... Because Peter is writing to Christians scattered across Asia Minor who increasingly needed to understand: This world is not home.
