He Who Commits Adultery Lacks Sense
It’s one thing if someone says you don’t make sense. It’s quite another if they say you lack sense. The latter is much harder to hear and receive. And yet, that is exactly how God’s Word describes someone who commits adultery. They believe sin’s false promises, pursue what is harmful, and fail to consider the consequences. Why would anyone choose to go down that path? And yet all around us, marriages are falling apart, and relationships are being devastated by the sin of adultery. Why is that? Well, research shows that one of the leading reasons spouses are unfaithful in marriage is a sense of overall dissatisfaction. This points to a deeper issue: satisfaction cannot be found in anyone or anything other than Jesus Christ. When we miss this, we expose ourselves to the temptations and dangers of sin, along with the disappointment that inevitably follows. We pursue all kinds of things in life to fill that void; things like money, achievement, sex, family, career, entertainment, adventure, relaxation, and possessions. But none of these will ever be enough. Each one eventually leaves us empty, longing for more, but never satisfied. It is only Christ, and a life centred on him, that can truly satisfy. So, the question we’re asking this week as we consider Proverbs 6:32–33 is this: Are you living the satisfied life? If you’re wondering what that really means, or what that might actually look like, then this message is for you. Go To The Ant, O Sluggard
In today’s culture, work is rarely seen as a positive thing. People tend to avoid work, find shortcuts, and put in just enough effort to “get it done,” but no more than that. It has become normal to find ways to get out of doing work, and it does seem harmless. But is that really the mindset that we should be having, not just as workers, but as Christians? Are we really meant to just look busy and simply fill the time, or are we to work hard and with zeal, doing the best that we can in not only our workplaces, but in our churches, our marriages, our friendships, our families, our free time? As we look at Proverbs 6:6-8, we will see that work is not something to be avoided, but instead a good gift from God; not something to do out of reluctance, but something to be done joyfully; and not something to be done simply for man, but for the Lord Christ, looking forward to the promises that we can be assured of. Series: Words of Wisdom Message: Go To The Ant, O Sluggard Text: Proverbs 6:6-8 Matthew Davey Harvest Alliston August 2, 2026 When I view work as God does, I… …follow the example of Creation (Proverbs 6:6-8) Job 12:7-8 2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 …see that it is good (Genesis 2:15) The centre of our human actions as Christians must be to reflect [a] focus on the kingdom of God. But around this centre, there is a periphery. Around and supporting God’s action in the kingdom there is his work of supporting and sustaining his world in being, that the kingdom may be built. We may call this his providence. And we may then speak of human work as our human action which corresponds to God’s providence. God holds his world in being; we are his estate managers. - David Atkinson What is ‘good’? ‘Good’ is whatever God approves. We may ask then, why is what God approves good? We must answer, ‘Because he approves it.’ - Wayne Grudem Ephesians 5:1 …do it all for the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24)

A Man’s Ways Are Before the Eyes of the Lord
Cameras are everywhere. Streaming church services and recording sermons. Keeping our streets and businesses safe. They’re on our policemen, our computers, our phones, our glasses, and our drones. They’re on our car dashboards and next to our license plates, because nobody knows how to park without a rearview camera anymore. Even the referees wore them during the FIFA World Cup! Because of this, people have become increasingly concerned about their privacy. But let me tell you, as much as we value keeping certain things to ourselves, there is one from whom nothing has ever been hidden. We know that God is omniscient, which means he knows all things, but Scripture takes it a step further, telling us he sees all things, too. His eyes are on us and on our ways. Knowing this, how should we respond to him? This is what we’ll examine together this Sunday as we look at Proverbs 5:21: “For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he ponders all his paths. Series: Words of Wisdom Message: A Man’s Ways Are Before the Eyes of the Lord Text: Proverbs 5:21 Patrice Charade Harvest Alliston July 26, 2026 Knowing that God sees all things, I… …tremble with fear (Psalm 139:1-4) ...realizing what God sees ...recognizing who God is Hebrews 10:31 …own my guilt and shame (Psalm 51:1-4) Sin wants to remain hidden and unspoken because its power lies in secrecy. – Dietrich Bonhoeffer …rejoice in his salvation (Isaiah 25:8-9) Grace is the good pleasure of God that inclines him to bestow benefits upon the undeserving. It is a self-existent principle inherent in the divine nature and appears to us as a self-caused propensity to pity the wretched, spare the guilty, welcome the outcast, and bring into favor those who were before under just disapprobation. Its use to us sinful men is to save us and make us sit together in heavenly places to demonstrate to the ages the exceeding riches of God's kindness to us in Christ Jesus. – A.W.
