Knowing God is to Fear God ACTS 27: 39-44 & ACTS 28: 1-10
Pastor Darrell Young
ACTS 27: 39-44 & ACTS 28: 1-10
In Acts 27:39–44 and Acts 28:1–10, God faithfully preserves the lives of everyone aboard Paul's ship, just as He had promised. After surviving the shipwreck, Paul continues to experience God's providential care on the island of Malta, where the Lord protects him from danger and uses him as an instrument of healing. These remarkable events reveal that to truly know God is to fear Him—to stand in reverent awe of His holiness, His sovereignty, and His unmatched power.
In this sermon, Pastor Darrell explores the biblical meaning of the fear of the Lord. Rather than a fear that drives us away from God, it is a reverent worship that draws us nearer to Him in humble faith and joyful obedience. The God who commands the winds and the waves, defeats the power of death, and fulfills every promise is the God who is worthy of our trust, worship, and devotion.
This passage reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. As we come to know God more deeply through His Word and His Son, Jesus Christ, we grow in confidence, obedience, and a life marked by reverent worship.

Christ's Church Established Mark 3: 13-30
Pastor Darrell Young
Mark 3: 13-30
In Mark 3:13–30, we see Jesus establish the foundation of His Church by calling and appointing the twelve apostles. Christ deliberately chooses those whom He desires, calls them to Himself, and commissions them to preach the Gospel and exercise authority in His name.
This passage gives us a powerful picture of the Church as Christ's Church. It does not belong to man, to a denomination, or to any earthly leader. The Church belongs to Jesus Christ, and He alone is its Head, Lord, and King.
As Jesus calls the twelve, He demonstrates that the work of His Kingdom is accomplished according to His sovereign purpose. The disciples are called first to be with Christ and then to be sent out by Christ. Before they can faithfully serve, they must first know and follow the One who called them.
The passage also records opposition to Jesus as the religious leaders accuse Him of casting out demons by the power of Satan. Christ exposes the absurdity of their accusation and demonstrates that Satan's kingdom cannot stand against Him.
In this sermon, Pastor Darrell examines Christ's establishment of His Church, His authority over His disciples, and His complete victory over the kingdom of darkness.
Christ establishes His Church. Christ calls His people. Christ sends His servants. And Christ will build His Church despite every opposition.

The GOD to Whom I Belong ACTS 27: 19-25

ACTS 27: 19-25
In Acts 27:19–25, the Apostle Paul finds himself in the midst of a violent storm at sea. As fear grips everyone aboard the ship and all hope of being saved appears lost, Paul stands with remarkable peace and confidence, declaring, "The God to whom I belong and whom I worship." His hope is anchored not in changing circumstances, but in the sovereign God who never fails to keep His promises.
In this sermon, Pastor Darrell explains what it means to truly belong to God through Jesus Christ. Every believer's identity, security, and hope are found in the Lord who has redeemed us by His grace. Because we belong to Him, we can trust His providence in every trial, rest in His promises during life's storms, and worship Him with unwavering confidence.
This passage reminds us that God's sovereignty is never threatened by the storms of life. He rules over every wave, fulfills every promise, and faithfully preserves those who belong to Him.
