What happens when a theatre-maker and an opera singer throw caution to the wind to see what wonderlands might reveal themselves in a creative process fuelled by their never-say-die passion?
"In The Process of Making" documents Dave and Jon’s 5-year journey as they stumble through brilliant insights and crushing doubts, unexpected breakthroughs and stubborn blockages — all the while remaining open and vulnerable to their exasperation and joy!
It's a creative odyssey of unexpected twists and delightful surprises that takes us to the heart of what creativity looks and feels like …. the highs and lows; the dream and the nightmare.
Episode 15 asks whether seven years of scattered sketches, songs and stories can finally cohere — whether the pieces of a puzzle really do make a picture richer than its parts. As the series reaches its finale, two threads strain toward each other: Jon's Weetbix-sponsorship empire, brokered by Gordon Oliver, the Sam Altman of Sevenwell, and Dave's long search to answer the disappearance of Violet Greenslade — with a mysterious girl and her little black dog somehow holding the key.

Creative uncertainty reigns as Dave confronts the frustration and self-doubt that comes with the effort of trying to form a clear picture of where the project is heading.
When conceptual approaches fail, Dave continues to find a way forward inspired by novelist Alex Miller’s observation that “The story reveals itself to me as I proceed with the book and it is nearly always a surprise.”
Is discombobulation a necessary rite of passage to creating something unexpectedly beautiful?
