Sex in Berlin (EN)

About Sex in Berlin (EN)

What is it like to explore sensuality with lots of naked people in an oil pool? How can BDSM be a way of coping with trauma? Do we all actually need sexual empowerment? And is there a power of sex? Host Nike Wessel wants to explore these questions in “Sex in Berlin”, the sex-positive podcast from Studio36, which aims to inspire through personal stories and contributions from experts in the field of intimacy. While the first (German) season focused on Berlin, we want to explore other places in the second season. The English episodes are now available on this podcast channel. Feminist, authentic and humorous, we tackle topics that can contribute to any kind of empowerment. We believe that empowerment can happen in many different ways. Whether through sex work, nude parties, porn, tantra or self-reflection on retreats. The paths are as different as the people who take them. You can find the German and previous English episodes on the podcast channel “Sex in Berlin (DE)”.

#61 If our world leaders were better f***d - Ally Iseman

In this episode of Sex in Berlin, host Nike sits down with Ally Iseman, relationship coach and founder of Passport 2 Pleasure, to unpack why relationship is a skillset — not a destination. Together they explore the four relationship archetypes, how desire splits into separate emotional and physical planes, and why "we finish each other's sentences" is really just another word for interrupting. From novel monogamy and the myth of "the one" to reframing jealousy as an underused tool for intimacy, Ally makes the case that better relationships at home could mean a better world at large. A conversation about boundaries, curiosity, and why the person you're dating is not a job candidate.

#22 Sex in Oberlethe: Women’s Sex Festival by Therapist and Sexworker Lenia Soley

Several times a year, couples and sex therapist, sex worker and mediator Lenia Soley organizes “Women's Sex Retreats” at the Oberlethe farm near Oldenburg. What may sound like an orgy lasting several days is in fact a gathering of around 12 women who spend a long weekend exploring their sexuality, their bodies and their biographies and experiencing themselves anew through self-awareness and community. The Oberlethe farm looks inconspicuous from the outside, but the grounds reveal a beautifully restored half-timbered house with a thatched roof and comfortably restored accommodation. This year, Lenia held her very first “Women’s Sex Festival” - also in Oberlethe - where more than 70 women gathered to discover new kinks, experience sisterhood or celebrate their own bodies and being. In addition to the retreats, Lenia also organizes women's temple nights in Berlin and has recently started a women's annual group. In this episode, Nike talks to Lenia about why she only creates spaces for women (cis and trans women and non-binary people who are (also) on the female spectrum) and what her motivation behind the retreats is. Editor Amelie Gante also talks about her experience at the Festival. And if you want to know more about the sex retreats, go listen to our german episode with Lenia where participant Nora Roggausch talks about her experience at the retreat. #17 Sex in Australia: Sexological Bodywork, Play Parties, Sex Performances and Queer Art

Hot, sex-positive kangaroos and kinky communities — Sex in Berlin takes the conversation to the next level with Sex in Australia. From living in a hetero-normative marriage with children to finding one's identifying as polyamorous, slutty, kinky, genderfluid and queer, the sexological bodyworker Jeremy Shub discusses with Nike how traditional gender roles are challenged, what a bodywork session entails and the special moments and insights that have shaped Jeremy's journey as a sexological bodyworker. Nike also speaks with Charlie, a director, producer, and designer, about their work with diverse artists and organizations to deepen their understanding of the senses and how they foster a more engaged interaction with art and the world around us. They also discuss the importance of living in and feeling your own body, and delve into her Sexological Bodywork, Embodied Counseling, Kink & BDSM, live performance and creative practices. Queer abstract art goes beyond traditional forms, offering space for new, experimental approaches that emphasize personal and collective experiences. Tay Haggarty is a Brisbane-based multidisciplinary artist working at the intersections of performance, video, and sculpture. Tay discusses how Tay's practice focuses on queer abstraction and explores how reductive forms can serve as an open field to reflect on personal and shared queer experiences. #12 Sex in Berlin - “Even vanilla is a kink”: Live from the 19th Pornfilmfestival

Most people watch porn. And most people go to the cinema - at least once in a while. But why don't we go to the cinema to watch porn there? The Pornfilmfestival Berlin is a special kind of experience and at the same time it's as commonplace as brushing your teeth. At least if you like porn and going to the cinema. Because the festival shows that porn can be more than “just” masturbation material and should therefore be appropriately honored on a big screen like all other film genres. The pioneering festival has a large and diverse selection of films that challenges societal norms, body politics and stereotypical constructions. For this english episode of Sex in Berlin Nike sent her roving reporters Ella and Amelie to the opening night at the Moviemento cinema. The two of them talk about what it's like to watch porn at the movies and test how shy the audience is. They try to find out what the visitors of the festival think about it. They discuss if we are all kinky in the end, even the vanilla ones… And Manuela Kay from the curatorial team tells them about the future visions of the festival. Listen to the new episode of Sex in Berlin to hear the stories, recommendations and insights.
