Biography Flash: Shakira's Madrid Finale Surprise and Pique Custody Battle Update
Shakira Biography Flash a weekly Biography.
Shakira is closing one of the most consequential chapters of her career with a major Madrid finale, while simultaneously facing a renewed family legal dispute. On October 6, Shakira and Gerard Pique appeared before a Barcelona court over arrangements for their sons, Milan and Sasha. According to Hola, as reported by Complex and Geo News, Shakira is seeking fewer transatlantic trips for the children, proposing that Pique travel to Miami during shorter school breaks instead. Her representatives say the request is about protecting the boys’ school routine and wellbeing, not reducing their father’s visitation time. The outcome remains unconfirmed.
Professionally, the biggest story is the expansion of Shakira’s Madrid residency to a thirteenth and final concert on October 12. ABC and Live Nation report that the added performance will take place at Macondo Park on Spain’s Hispanic Day, transforming the residency into a cultural event celebrating Latin music and connections between Spain and Latin America. The announcement followed strong ticket demand, although the exact attendance figure has not been independently established.
The finale is expected to feature Maluma, Beele, Dani Martin and Bizarrap, according to Live Nation and Colombia’s Vanguardia. Organizers have hinted at additional surprises, but any further guest names remain speculation. The appearance by Bizarrap carries particular biographical weight because it reunites Shakira with the producer behind her globally successful Music Sessions number 53, a song that became central to her post breakup artistic identity.
Another major moment came on October 3, when Dua Lipa joined Shakira onstage in Madrid to perform Antologia. Shakira shared the encounter on Instagram, calling the night a dream come true, while Dua Lipa also posted about the collaboration. TicketNews reports that the concert became Amazon Music’s most viewed livestream by a female artist, although that record is based on the streaming service’s own announcement.
Spanish media also reported criticism after the extra Madrid date was announced, with some fans accusing Shakira of changing what had been promoted as the final concert. Deutsche Welle described the reaction as widespread online frustration, while other coverage emphasized the high demand and celebratory context.
Her Madrid run continues through October 12, followed by a scheduled October 18 performance in Bishkek and a November 28 concert at Egypt’s Pyramids, according to TicketNews and Shakira’s official schedule.
