I've Never Seen Confidence Like THIS | Sanya Malhotra

I've met A LOT of confident people... but I don't think I've ever heard someone say or believe the things that Sanya Malhotra does about herself. I'm beyond inspired!

Sanya Malhotra is someone who has clearly spent a lot of time questioning the things most of us just accept.

What struck me throughout this conversation is how much of becoming a woman is actually about unlearning. Unlearning that women are supposed to compete with each other. Unlearning that being “good” means constantly sacrificing yourself. Unlearning that speaking up makes you difficult.

Sanya’s career is an extension of that. She’s intentional about the women she brings to life on screen because she believes women deserve to be portrayed as whole, complicated, powerful human beings.

We talked about the F word... feminism... and the misconception that it means being against men. We talked about anger, ambition and why women are so often taught to soften themselves before they’re even allowed to take up space.

What I loved most about Sanya is that she doesn’t separate being outspoken from being happy. She has strong values, she calls things out, she makes choices that align with who she is...and she’s still built a life full of joy.

Sanya reminded me that standing firmly in your values doesn’t have to make your life smaller. It can actually make it feel more like yours.

This episode of Shame Less With Lilly Singh is presented by my charity, Unicorn Island Fund.

The Older I Get, The Less I Care If You Like Me | Kalki Koechlin

I really think a lot of people are going to relate to this conversation! Kalki Koechlin called herself brave and stupid in the first five minutes of our conversation. By the end, I understood exactly what she meant by both.

She has spent her career taking the roles people told her not to take. The complicated women. The uncomfortable stories. The things that made people say, “Are you sure you want to do that?” And somehow, those “brave and stupid” choices became the ones that made strangers stop her and say: you gave me permission.

But what stayed with me most was how honest she was about the parts nobody sees.

Kalki talks openly about panic attacks, therapy, self-doubt and the moments where she has sat across from powerful people and smiled through things that made her want to scream. Not because she didn’t have the courage to say something. Because sometimes you need the job. Sometimes you pick your battles. Sometimes survival is its own kind of calculation.

We talked about ambition and why women are still made to feel suspicious for wanting power. About the mental load women carry home every single night. About how exhausting it is to constantly be asked to be confident, but not intimidating. Successful, but still easy to love.

Kalki is one of the most clear-eyed people I’ve spoken to. She doesn’t pretend the brave choices are always obvious. Sometimes they’re the ones that look completely stupid.

This episode of Shame Less with Lilly Singh is presented by my charity, Unicorn Island Fund.

Kriti Sanon Opens Up: Success, People Pleasing and Speaking Up

Lowkey, I found my twin! Kriti Sanon is one of the most self-aware people I’ve ever sat across from. Not because she has all the answers, but because she’s willing to question the life she’s built while still living it.

What struck me throughout this conversation is how clearly she sees the invisible rules women are expected to follow. Kriti has spent most of her life in spaces where women were outnumbered... engineering classrooms, film sets, meetings where people with power decide her future while never having to question their own place in the room.

And still, she kept showing up.

The woman people see as confident spent years navigating the pressure to stay likable. To ask questions without seeming difficult. To be ambitious without making other people uncomfortable.

But somewhere along the way, Kriti started to rewrite the rules and make decisions that served her.

We teach women gratitude long before we teach them boundaries. And maybe that’s why so many women spend their lives adjusting themselves to fit into spaces that never considered them to begin with.

This episode of Shame Less With Lilly Singh is presented by my charity, Unicorn Island Fund.
