How Do You Own Movement? Alysa Liu to Martha Graham
<p>Headphone warning :,( there’s a strange clicking sound in my audio from my “mic” that reappears throughout that I didn’t notice until I started editing so I apologize… please bear with me. I take this as a sign that I need to actually get a mic. This video is me trying to grapple with the incredibly complex concept of how to define ownership of movement, of dance and very heavily inspired by recent events of Alysa Liu winning gold at the 2026 Milan Olympics, Martha Graham and the legalities of choreography, Kazuko Miyamoto, West African dancers, and Herbert Read (again lol), and FKA twigs</p><p>REFERENCES: F.R. Why people think “culture is dead”
<p>Longest video yet! I have had two months of much needed self reflection + books to read… I discuss Claire Bishop’s theory on attention, automatism, AI, mid century modern Facebook Marketplace slop, address the hyperfication of media trends causing a reduction in itself, Franco Berardi, Italian Futurism, Herbert Read….. actually I’m going to stop listing things because basically I kind of talk about a lot. But long answer short, NO. it is not dead. Happy Valentine’s day btw _________________ BIBLIO: To Hell with Culture - Herbert Read (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://archive.org/details/tohellwithcultur00read_0">https://archive.org/details/tohellwithcultur00read_0</a>) Disordered Attention - Claire Bishops (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://monoskop.org/images/a/a5/Bishop_Claire_Disordered_Attention_How_We_Look_at_Art_and_Performance_Today_2024.pdf">https://monoskop.org/images/a/a5/Bishop_Claire_Disordered_Attention_How_We_Look_at_Art_and_Performance_Today_2024.pdf</a>) Abandoned Houses - Sam Durant (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.samdurant.net/work/abandoned-houses/">https://www.samdurant.net/work/abandoned-houses/</a>) → Sam Durant (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.samdurant.net/">https://www.samdurant.net/</a>) Grass Roots of Art - Herbert Read (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://archive.org/details/grassrootsofartf00read">https://archive.org/details/grassrootsofartf00read</a>) Chaos and the Automation - Franco Bifo Berardi (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.e-flux.com/books/619254/chaos-and-the-automaton">https://www.e-flux.com/books/619254/chaos-and-the-automaton</a>) Symbolic Exchange and Death - Jean Baudrillard (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://dn790009.ca.archive.org/0/items/Baudrillard/Baudrillard.1976.Symbolic-Exchange-and-Death.pdf">https://dn790009.ca.archive.org/0/items/Baudrillard/Baudrillard.1976.Symbolic-Exchange-and-Death.pdf</a>) The Smartness Mandate - Orit Halpern and Robert Mitchell (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://wvw.zlibrary.to/dl/the-smartness-mandate-0">https://wvw.zlibrary.to/dl/the-smartness-mandate-0</a>) Cheddar: NYC Oyster Dumping (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kinmq0UPizg">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kinmq0UPizg</a>) MoMA 2010 "Oyster-recture" (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.scapestudio.com/projects/oyster-tecture/">https://www.scapestudio.com/projects/oyster-tecture/</a>)</p>

Art in the AI Bubble: Guns, Fences, and the Farm Crisis
<p>Hello everyone! Thank you for being patient. This video is on how I understood the theoretical framework of Chris Burden’s reactionary performance art and Christo and Jeanne Claude’s land installations to parallel today’s current crises of financial speculation’s consequences and the American farming debt crisis. ________________ REFERENCES: <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.triple-c.at/index.php/tripleC/article/view/1130/132">https://www.triple-c.at/index.php/tripleC/article/view/1130/132</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.ucpress.edu/books/models-of-integrity/hardcover">https://www.ucpress.edu/books/models-of-integrity/hardcover</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://christojeanneclaude.net/artworks/running-fence/">https://christojeanneclaude.net/artworks/running-fence/</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/S/bo125281793.html">https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/S/bo125281793.html</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/david-graeber-anarchy-in-a-manner-of-speaking">https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/david-graeber-anarchy-in-a-manner-of-speaking</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.dukeupress.edu/artist-audience-accomplice">https://www.dukeupress.edu/artist-audience-accomplice</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/@FarmToTaber">https://www.youtube.com/@FarmToTaber</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://youtube.com/shorts/TklKMfT31Ds?si=7PQv9MOKWTnaoLQu">https://youtube.com/shorts/TklKMfT31Ds?si=7PQv9MOKWTnaoLQu</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xon9A5_4tQw">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xon9A5_4tQw</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://youtu.be/cl02K72QFS0?si=2yf1jDN-KmN9CWn3">https://youtu.be/cl02K72QFS0?si=2yf1jDN-KmN9CWn3</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://youtu.be/r5xxTIPKY8s?si=KFXZX5ro3jdUG_H2">https://youtu.be/r5xxTIPKY8s?si=KFXZX5ro3jdUG_H2</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7YxjG1tcAU">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7YxjG1tcAU</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cato.org/commentary/americas-latest-farmer-crisis-government-grown">https://www.cato.org/commentary/americas-latest-farmer-crisis-government-grown</a></p>
