Whether you’re a first responder or safety minded church security team member, I’ve got a message for you. You matter.
Most people won't notice you're there unless something goes wrong. You won't get applause for the crisis that never happened because you were watching. But here's what I know: the sheep are safe when the shepherd stays strong.
This isn't your average devotional. It isn’t fluffy feel-good stuff. This is field-tested truth. And I'm not writing from some ivory tower. I’m called to keep others safe, I carry a radio on my watch, and I feel the same weight of knowing that situational awareness can be the difference between tragedy and testimony.
The physical, emotional, and spiritual weight is real, and I understand because I'm living it too. That's why I created fifty-two weeks of raw, honest devotions for those sheep dogs in human form who know that ministry isn't always pretty, but it's always worth it.
Each week delivers:
● Scripture that hits different when you're holding the line
● Real talk about situations that keep you up at night
● Encouragement that doesn't insult your intelligence
● Spiritual fuel for people who can't afford to run on empty
● Zero church-speak, maximum truth
We were called to this. We were built for this. And by the way, thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, the constant vigilance, and the quiet sacrifice. You are a quiet hero.
What does it mean to be a gatekeeper of grace in security ministry and law enforcement?
A gatekeeper of grace is a church security volunteer or Christian law enforcement officer who protects people physically and spiritually, creating a safe space where people feel seen, welcomed, and free to encounter God. This episode explores 1 Chronicles 9:22-27 (NASB) to show how Scripture treats gatekeeping as a trusted ministry.
What does the Bible say about gatekeepers?
In 1 Chronicles 9:22-27, 212 gatekeepers were appointed by King David and Samuel the seer to guard the house of the Lord. Their role was an office of trust, which shows how seriously God takes the protection of sacred spaces.
Why is safety more than preventing physical harm?
Real safety means people can heal without fear and be welcomed exactly as they are. Whether someone arrives joyful or barely holding it together, they should sense right away that they are seen and safe.
What is spiritual warfare in security ministry?
It means recognizing unseen threats like attacks on unity, doubts about God’s goodness, and spiritual heaviness. Prayer and intercession should be as routine as checking locks and testing radios.
Who is this episode for?
Church security teams, Christian law enforcement officers, ministry volunteers who guard doors and parking lots, and women serving in safety roles who have felt overlooked.
Four takeaways
Gatekeeping is a calling. Safety work is ministry, and Scripture shows God appointing people to it.
Safety includes spiritual protection. Pair prayer with radios and locks.
Grace comes before words. Let people feel welcomed by your presence.
Every person is worth protecting. Let love, not suspicion, guide your watchfulness.

Season 1, Episode 31: Situationally Aware Watchers
What does it mean to be a watchman in the Bible, and how does it apply to church safety teams today?
In this episode, we look at Ezekiel's call as a watchman and what it teaches about hearing directly from God. Ezekiel is called "son of man" many times in the Bible, a title that stresses his humanity in contrast to God's divinity, and his role was to hear from God and faithfully warn His people when danger approached.
Can the Holy Spirit alert church safety team members to danger?
Radios, safety protocols, and patrols are necessary. But some of the most critical alerts come through the Holy Spirit: a gut check that something is off, a name that keeps coming to mind during a service, or a sudden tug to pray for someone you can't even see.
What is spiritual situational awareness?
It means protecting people's soul safety as well as their physical safety. The enemy doesn't always come through the back door. Sometimes he targets hope in someone battling depression, or a marriage in crisis. Your calm presence, watchful but welcoming eyes, and quiet prayers can be a shield someone didn't know they needed.
You'll learn:
Why watchman and prophet are similar callings in Ezekiel
How to trust and act on Holy Spirit nudges while on duty
Why quiet, uneventful days on duty can still be spiritually significant
How to stay alert to both the seen and the unseen
A prayer for church safety team members, law enforcement, and anyone called to protect others
Who this is for: Church safety and security team members, ministry volunteers, law enforcement officers of faith, and anyone who wants to be spiritually present, not just physically present.

Season 1, Episode 30: The Quiet Guardians
Every church and every community is filled with people who represent God's promises in human form. Whether they are future leaders, restorers, or healers, they're going to be the people that guide others into genuine encounters with God. They're often hidden in plain sight, serving very quietly while God prepares them for greater things, just like this little boy king.
They're sitting in our congregations and in our communities right now, and the enemy would love to identify and destroy them before they're able to step into their callings. That's where we come in, because our calling is not just protecting physical bodies, it's protecting divine callings, kingdom purposes, and eternal destinies.
We're quietly standing guard over people who carry pieces of God's plan for our community and beyond. This calling doesn't require public recognition to be very, very significant. It doesn't need a microphone or a spotlight to carry the eternal weight that it does. What it needs is the physical tools of our training and the spiritual authority of our position in Christ, and an unwavering commitment to the mission that God has given each of us.
