Shielded Voices: Chris Green: Part 3: From Combat & Policing to First Responder Psychology #035

In this final chapter of our conversation, Chris Green shares the full arc of his journey — from combat service and law enforcement to pursuing a doctorate in first responder psychology. What begins as a reflection on career transitions quickly moves into deeper territory. Chris opens up about suicide ideation, shame, losing emotional connection on the job, and the moment he realized the badge had started to cost more than it was worth. The hard question emerges: at what cost do we keep going? This episode is not about walking away from the profession. It's about understanding it. It's about the psychological toll of combat and policing, the silence that keeps so many trapped, and the power of education and vulnerability to change the trajectory. Chris' path didn't end when he left the road. It evolved. And now his mission is helping first responders heal before they break. If you've ever felt numb, angry, disconnected, or unsure who you are without the badge, this conversation is for you. You're not broken. You're bruised. And there is a way forward.

Shielded Voices: Chris Green: Part 2: Patrol Shenanigans, PTSD, and Shame #034

In this episode, the conversation shifts from humor and war stories to the unseen cost of the job. What begins with patrol shenanigans and shared memories slowly gives way to something heavier — the accumulation of stress, identity, and trauma that many first responders carry quietly for years. Chris opens up about the internal pressure to perform, the fear of becoming a liability, and the moment he realized he couldn't keep going the way he was. This episode explores how discipline can turn into isolation, how reputation can trap us, and why stepping away can feel more terrifying than staying. This is an honest, unfiltered look at what happens when the job becomes your entire identity — and what it takes to admit something has to change.

Shielded Voices: Chris Green: Part 1: Chris' Marine Corp Experience Leading to Police Work #033

In this episode, we sit down with Chris Green to talk about the early experiences that shaped his life long before the uniform. Chris shares what it was like growing up between two households, navigating divorce, faith, and childhood trauma, and how those experiences influenced his sense of identity and self-worth. We explore the pressure to be tough, the fear of not being enough, and the drive to escape — a drive that eventually led him to enlist in the Marine Corps after 9/11. This conversation isn't about highlight reels or war stories. It's about the foundation — the internal wiring that forms early in life and quietly follows us into the careers we believe will fix us.
