[…] And they have this imaginary line of the multiple getting higher as EBITDA grows. The reality is when you actually look at any Excel formula or corporate finance textbook, size of the business has no bearing on the EBITDA multiple, the valuation multiple. What impacts the multiple is really two things. One is future growth rate. And second is risk. So higher growth companies get a higher multiple and lower risk companies have a higher multiple. And so I think the growth part is obvious, right? If your company is growing, it should be worth a lot more in the future. So people are willing to pay up for it. […]
