Shubz Says So is a live daily show streamed on YouTube Monday to Friday from 4pm to 7pm NZT. It’s real conversations about what’s going on in New Zealand and around the world. Politics, culture, sport, current affairs, controversy, everyday life and the stories people are actually talking about. I talk to politicians, candidates, commentators, athletes, veterans, community voices and everyday people with something worth saying. No echo chamber. No pretending everyone has to agree. Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it gets heated, but the whole point is to have the conversation properly. If people are talking about it, we probably are too. Live Monday to Friday, 4pm to 7pm NZT on YouTube.
125 | Israel, Identity & the Story Sheree Says Is Missing
Who benefits from New Zealand’s data centre boom — and who pays for the upgrades?
Tanya Renwick from Stop Data Centres New Zealand joins Shubz to explain her concerns about electricity infrastructure, overseas investment conditions and public consultation. She outlines the questions she’s putting to authorities and why she wants clearer answers about costs to ordinary households.
Dr Sheree Trotter returns to challenge recent commentary following a Māori delegation’s Israel trip. She gives her perspective on genocide allegations, Hamas, October 7 and why she believes comparisons between Māori and Palestinian experiences leave important differences out.
Before that, Conservative Party candidate Doug shares his journey from 40 years in the fire service to standing in Northland. We discuss immigration, government overreach, Brian Tamaki and his argument for voting according to your values rather than election tactics.
Different views, direct questions and plenty coming through the live chat.

124 | Brian Tamaki Charged — Where’s the Free Speech Line
You don’t have to agree with Brian Tamaki to question the charges against him.
The Free Speech Union joins Shubz to discuss the case, racial disharmony legislation and where offensive speech ends and criminal offending begins. We also get into online complaints, Netsafe and concerns about how the Harmful Digital Communications Act is being used.
Before that, Vision New Zealand deputy leader Heeka Robertson shares his journey from an Auckland upbringing and a law degree to government work, pastoring and politics. He explains why he lost faith in bureaucracy, his support for Brian Tamaki and the role he believes Christianity, family and immigration should play in New Zealand’s future.
The conversation also turns to gangs, policing and lived experience. Shubz explains why he has sometimes felt safer around gang members than police, and we discuss the trauma and search for belonging behind those experiences.

123 | Bernadette Soares: NZ First Needs to Keep National Under Control
Big developments, big promises — but what do they mean for the people living next door?
Matthew from Stop Data Centres New Zealand joins Shubz to raise concerns about large-scale developments, electricity demand, environmental impacts and whether communities are getting a meaningful say. We discuss why New Zealand appeals to data centre operators and question what locals stand to gain.
Before that, ACT’s Mount Albert candidate Alex Price shares his journey from engineering to leading Fertility Associates — and why seeing his children leave for Australia helped push him into politics. We talk healthcare, business growth, the cost of living and giving young Kiwis a reason to stay.
Bernadette Soares returns to discuss her place at number 22 on NZ First’s list, campaigning in Upper Harbour and the party’s position on infrastructure before housing approvals. She also explains why she wants a bigger NZ First presence to keep National in check.
Plus, political commentary, viewer questions and the usual banter.
