sick lit girl is a leftist literary podcast hosted by former psychodynamic psychotherapist Nina Lalić with episodes featuring writers, musicians, and other artists, along with those on culture, psychoanalytic theory, and the art of living with chronic illness/pain. Episodes move between close readings of writers, film criticism, conversations with artists of different mediums, and personal essays on chronic pain, embodied experience, and desire.
Guests join for intimate, unguarded conversations (these do not constitute therapy).

How do we make cities more enjoyable, accessible, connecting, and full of life? What are the best cities to live in, and ways of living overall that inspire creativity? I initially share some personal experiences re: Beograd (Belgrade) Serbia and Vancouver BC, comparing Eastern Europe to North America. Then I have guest Zane on (previously on the pod!) for the majority of the episode to further discuss how we view different places, and what many cities need more of.
Cities/Places mentioned: Belgrade, Vancouver, NYC, Montreal, London, Edinburgh, Chicago, the Midwest, rural environments/small towns
Discussions around the need for third spaces, the internet taking over and its consequences. We complain about people suggesting you need to join a hobby to make friends - whatever happened to just hanging out?
